I don't know if it's a scam, but an 11 Chapter Business Book on Corporate America for $350 and a 5 Chapter Book on Face Painting for $100 sounds waaaaay too low to me. I've made that and sometimes more for a single magazine article.

I don't think its a scam. They may or may not have steady work, their quality standards are probably sub par as they're probably mass mailing a bunch of writers they're unfamiliar with. But they'll probably pay what they said they pay, which is very little. Doing a quick google search didn't pop up anything scary.

...

As the kids today would say, "OMG LOL whut????" They're missing a zero in that figure.

Grant/proposal writing is an exacting specialty, even more so when dealing with funding for research. Freelance proposal writers typically command $50-$100 an hour.

They're trolling for newbies because no established, or even half-assedly established writer will work for those ridiculously low wages. A 40-page research proposal should be worth $3000-$5000.

anyone hear of them?

I wasn't sure where to post this so I thought I'd start here.
Yesterday I got an email from someone at a site called WriteShire, saying they'd seen my info on writers.net and soliciting for candidates to write/edit/proofread for them and posting their pay rates. This showed up in my junk file at work but I went onto the Web site which appeared legit.

I sent them 2 emails; both bounced back. I called the number on the site and got a recording saying the number couldn't be completed as dialed.
Then I went onto writers.net, which I haven't accessed in ages, and realized there's no real way to get any info about me - I don't even remember giving log-in information.

So I suppose it's a scam. Anyone have any experience with these guys?

Site hasn't been updated since '10 (last Tweet 7/10). They claim (here) split from Princeton Guide/Commercial Holdings in '09.
