Well the last meet-up was in London (and I think there might've been more than one in London), so my vote for the next one is 'anywhere other than London'. :)

Tell that to 'Look East' . They always had stories about Peterbugger.

Mind you, the television companies think Kings Lynn is in Yorkshire. In reality, it's in Mordor.

So . . . does anyone think we should have a poll to decide where. We have Oxford, Cambridge and where else?

1) Norwich
2) Cambridge
3) That London
4) anywhere within four hours direct train from Norwich. Except Ipswich as it's a dump.

Who wants to create a poll? And are partners invited? I might bring Mrs seun.

Go on and create the poll, you know you want to. Of course Mrs Seun can come. Will you bring the cats?

I agree - anywhere but London.

So . . . what happened to Oxford?

Thump - Norwich is about two hours from London on the train. If we can get the date sorted then you could probably get a good deal on the ticket.

So . . . what happened to Oxford?

I think a bloke swam in front of their boat and then one of their oars snapped...

Oh, you mean to visit. Probably too far for me. I have to go there occasionally for work in the week and it's a long old haul.

Milton Keynes? Bedford? Northampton?
Just some 'central' suggestions.

Even though MK isn''t that far from me, it's an arse to get to. Bedford is OK. Well, it's a dump, but I can get to it. Ditto Northampton.

ETA: I shouldn't have assumed Beds and Northants were easy on the train. They're not. I need to learn to drive.

You know, folks, this isn't going to be the last-ever UK meet-up. No matter the place and date, there are people who won't be able to make it. With luck, they'll be able to attend a future one. At the rate we're going, will still be going *round* and *round* on this one long after next spring. (Clever how I did that, eh? ;))

Terie's right. We could be talking about this for ages. Give me a minute and I'll put a poll up.

Aw, I'm down in Brighton for fantasycon :(

For the other meet - anything wrong with Brum? I mean it's nice and centralish, pretty easy to get to from most parts of the country and all. Well, I say easy, it's 3 trains for me, but it's still easyish.

*Shudders at memory of Brum . . . So Mr Fribble-ish to remind me of Brum* :tongue

Not sure how easy the East Anglians would find it to get there.

I live to serve.

About the same as me, I think - train to London, tube, another train out.

You're sure about that are you?

Journey from Norwich takes nearly four hours and costs just under £50. That is getting the 21.30 train from Brum and arriving at Norwich 10.13 the following morning! Strange and mysterious are the ways of National Rail. Other wise the fare is from £76.

Brum is a three hour drive from Nodge and even longer by train. It's the other side of the country.

Nodge is about that far from me (4 hours by train)

Wait, this is the wrong thread...have we decided where it's going to be yet?

It's looking like London given the current state of the poll. Brum took me about three hours when I went to Eastercon year before last. From what I remember, I was supposed to change in Coventry but by staying on one train all the way, I got there five minutes later than I would have with changing.

I would love it to be Brum as that's where I am. If it's not London, Oxford would be easiest for me. Def can't do Nodge

If it's going to be in the big smoke, the SF crowd can probably book the George.

As long as no cheeky Cockney types pick my pocket and Jack the Ripper doesn't carve me up, then I'm happy.
