Pssh. I have a SNOW WHITE DVD sitting here because you told me to watch it. And I was considering getting Tangled, or whatever the hell it is called, for Zoe...

Soo.... now I have to go to Starbucks with a friend and 'write'... aka, we'll be talking and distracted the whole time. I'd rather not go but I tend to blow her off a lot... *sigh*

Awww, weak! Weird Tales has gone for "themed" submissions. Ugh. I HATE themes. :( Not that I've tried submitting to them yet anyway, but now I finally have something that's the right length, and they're open to subs, but it's not the right theme! Wah! :(

Haven't checked in with them in a while - which theme are they currently looking for? Please say they want clown stories... I have three of those which nobody wants to read (I'm hitting all kinds of childhood trauma).

The main character is called Joey, and all of the surrounding characters are based on historical clowns and circus-folk. It began as a small press comic, and I'm still playing with the themes. I uploaded scans of the first two issues somewhere, and I'm sure the first cover is on my blog - Joey is the one with the open jacket, showing her breast. Yes, I know I'm gonna get slapped down for that, but I keep reading that I ought to write what I know.

Hang on... Okay, it's Elder Gods (a Lovecraft tribute), and then fairy tales for the next one. Except now I'm not sure it's open at all, because the thing says they will "reopen for submissions mid-April," and....it's May, but the message is the same.

ETA: Linkage.

*adding William Shun's essay on Standard Manuscript Format to my Favorites tab*

I really ought to start typing manuscripts this way in the first place and save myself the trouble.

Gah! I hate when the submissions page doesn't reflect the most accurate situation. I have a feeling they are still closed to regular submission, but open for the themed anthos?
I'm trying to check duotrope, but their site won't open.

The thread was in on a plot to kill you, anyway. It's better off dead.

Silly. ALL of the threads on AW are trying to kill you - staying up 24 hours a day to make sure you don't miss anything; eating at the screen, so potentially lethal germs multiply on the keyboard; coming straight to the computer after having a shower, and risking electrocution, just to refresh the page...

It's a wonder we all survived this long.
