And I love, love, love Tyrion. Love. Serious love. Major love.
Great to see Peter Dinklage getting the kind of stardom he deserves. (Too bad that Mongo movie fell through.)

Couldn't get into the books; enjoying the series, though. As good-looking as any big-budget fantasy movie I've seen, and with a lot more intellectual meat.

Definitely more sister-diddlin' than in most shows.

Pfft, even Lawful good characters can justify bad decisions, especially if they control the law. :)

Tough decision as there is a lot in the TV show that is not in the books, or exactly as the books show them...

After watching season one, I got the books and was not disappointed...

Where did you get that bit of information. I must have glossed over that in the book...

I know what she did, but I didn't connect that to your spoilers...

Spoilery book stuff about Stannis and Melisandre....

>>>>I dunno. It was (as you stated) suggested that they had more than just king and priestly adviser relationship. I read that between the lines as well. So, who else would have impregnated her with the shadow assassin if not Stannis? I remember Davos being in the boat with her and taking her to the "spot" and he saw she was swollen in the belly and then she gave birth to the thing that killed Renly. She always speaks (in the books) about how a king's blood is the most prized. Why not a king's manjuice too? :) <<<<<<

I'm a fair bit disappointed in the handling of Littlefinger. It seems they're making him into more and more of a cartoon villain, and one thing I love from the books is how, while he may seem amoral, he's no more "evil" than any of the other characters. They're all self-serving, devious, back-stabbing but he's just better at it. Also, even up until the last book we still didn't know what game he was really playing (and even now he might be lying about his motives), so he could easily take a dramatic shift later in the series. But in the show, they're narrowing his personality so much he can ONLY be a villain. It's impossible to feel sympathy for a man that menaces his employees like that.

There were a LOT of sex scenes in episode two, but it's really only the whorehouse ones I found gratuitous. Actually, all the whorehouse scenes except the baby-killing seem pointless, since they do nothing to further the plot and just seem to operate as a mechanism for making Littlefinger look more evil, and ensuring the per-episode tits quota.

Sigh, is it just me or has Cersei turned into a moron this season?

Still enjoying it, though. Looking forward to Tyrion's increasing importance in the plot.

Bunny,

Could not agree more. I always enjoyed the heck out of Littlefinger's schemes. He was more human in the book.

I found Littlefinger much more interesting in season one. His witty one liners with Ned made you wonder if he really was a good guy misunderstood, or a weasel. Well, we found out, Littlefinger is for Littlefinger...

This season, he has taken a back seat somewhat, but he will return as his role continues in other books. Remember, he disappears several times, doing Littlefinger stuff and in the books, we did not learn about them until later...

This thread is starting to remind me of a Rolling Stone song, "Can't always get what you want..."

I guess the thing for me is, since Martin is obviously okaying this portrayal of Littlefinger, it makes it all the more likely that he really IS a baddie in the books, and kind of ruins a lot of the fun speculation and trying to decipher his motives. If he's evil, he's just evil. It's like with Varys and the revelation in the most recent book that
he claims he is actually working to restore the throne to it's original bloodline
because again, since we're always outside his POV as we are with Littlefinger, we don't know if he's telling the truth or playing a long game. Varys is still enough of an unknown quantity in the TV series that we can keep on speculating. It's just a shame that Littlefinger isn't. If it turns out he is more twisty than he appears, they'll have a hell of a job convincing the TV audience of it.

Littlefinger showed his colors back in season 1, when he told Ned not to trust him -- and then proved to be a man of his word, such as it is. He's incredibly dangerous. And that's not even counting what he does in the books; that's just based on what we've seen of him in the show. (And yep, I've read the books.)

All this talk about season two reminds me that I need to find the time to watch it. And finish a Dance with Dragons...

Lol, yeah! After the 5 year wait, I think that just really threw me off of the series, even though I still want to know what happens! I think I'm worried about getting into it again, and then having another 5 year wait (or forever, if he dies before finishing it.)

Well even if Martin is hit by and bus and dies, he has already told the HBO people how the series ends, so there is that good news, as there is an ending in sight.

I really don't see the series going much beyond 5 years if HBO keeps picking up the series. They are already complaining about the production cost escalating...

Episode #3, things are getting interesting...

I love Bree already.

Tyrion was back to his clever self tonight. Good to see his role expanded.

Ayra, a great role for this young actress and she is doing a splendid job.

Renley, they have expanded his role in the series as I don't remember all the gay scenes in the books. But you know, I think it works better in the series as it explains a lot that was only eluded to in the books.

And Theon, the guy has no clue...

Next week looks to get real interesting...

Wow. GREAT episode! So much that I loved. Margery = fantastic. I love that she's so realistic about all of this--doesn't have her head in the clouds, knows what needs to get done, if ya know what I mean. :)

I liked the scene with Theon "choosing sides" there on the shore. For a minute I thought they would toss him in the sea and drown him, then see if he comes back (like the priests do in the books). God, I just hurt knowing what happens this season.

Brienne was amazing! Holy cow. Nice camera work. She looked 7 feet tall next to Catelyn. :)

I hugely appreciated how different this particular episode was from the book. It was fabulous seeing Theon wrestle with his loyalties. The scene between Renly and Margery was phenomenal. The two scenes with Sansa were enough to renew my sympathy for her. The scene between Yoren and Arya was outstanding.

I'm glad they didn't squeeze in Stannis, Joffrey, and Dany into this episode too.

And Brienne? Oh my God, what perfect casting for the role! Agreed about the camerawork, but I believe that the actress is tall to begin with (even if not **that** tall).

I checked on that - she's 6'3", so she's pretty tall to begin with, but the camera work made her look several inches taller than than, especially next to Catelyn.

I'm glad they didn't squeeze in Stannis, Joffrey, and Dany into this episode too.

This is what I was talking about earlier in that they were squeezing in too much in the first two episodes to introduce all the characters.

In this episode, they reduced the number of characters and I think we got a much better quality episode.

I also enjoyed Margery's expanded roll and how see deals with the realities of her situation.

I thought the second scene between Tryion and Vary's was interesting. Tryion played his little game of find the spy and Vary's was now playing his little game. Tryion is a much better hand than Ned.

I am disappointed in Littlefinger this season, still. In the first season, he was much livelier, had whitier lines, and we suspected he was a weasel. This season, he is almost dull and they make him seem unsure of himself.

Hopefully, HBO will keep this type of pacing for the rest of the season...
