I only see names as Special Snowflake names if they are completely unrealistic for the story's time and/or location. Like, if every character a story about Caucasian American teenagers at high school had Japanese names just because the writer preferred those names, it would be odd. Just random input. (People who complain about Special Snowflake names in fantasies in which everyone has an unusual name are just nitpicking.)

My current WIP, which doesn't have many names yet as it's still a baby plot:

Interesting names all. It makes the names for my WIP seem bland. Decided to go with simplistic names for the MCs, and a few outlandish ones for others.

LOVE the name Eris. I initially named my MC Eris, but my writing buddies either mispronounced it or just hated it in general, so I dropped it.

It made me very sad to let it go since I am obsessed with Greek mythology.
