(((((((Annie and Faery))))))

Better luck with the next places that you try.

Oh bollocks. Just got an R from the redstone identity thing. :(

Well, It'll go somewhere else, I suppose.

I thought for sure yours had a shot, Lillie. Who knows how close we got though? Good thing is they are definitely broad enough to go to other markets. Woo hoo! :)

Mine's gone to Lightspeed for a quickie.

I'll be interested in seeing what won.

An R today for a story. Was discouraged for a little bit, but eventually I sent it out again. It was only after I sent it out that I saw that the place I sent it to has really long times: I like to try all of the quicker markets before going in for the long wait, but oh well. Maybe this place was meant to be :).

Re-sent "Isolation" (My 10Flash piece) off to Abyss & Apex. We'll see how that goes. I don't have high hopes, but again, a small chance is better than no chance at all.

Also got an R from 10Flash. Now to see where else I can send this to.

We shall get those 10Flash people next time!

I try to avoid explaining the technology in my sci-fi. It's there and does its thing, and that's it.

Having visions of the sci-fi kind of waving at the crowd. "Here I am - doing my thing!"

You are allowed 1 mars bar for the first rejection. At every 100th rejection you get a nice meal out.

OK, I am up to my 11th rejection this month. That's a record for me. Hoping for one more response before the month ends, to get to a dozen.

Geez - no one told me the mars bar rule! Rah-rah-sis-boom-bah you can do it! Hold on - I'm cheering for you to get an R?

Got my nicest rejection yet today. Where's a mixed-feelings emoticon? :(

A form R from Apex today. Meh. At least something freed up in time to meet the AW anthology submission deadline.

(((Alex)))

Me too :(

But I'm not sending to the AW anthology. It went to DSF instead.
I love this story, but I don't know if it will ever find a home unless eschatology reopens for subs.

Yeah I got my Apex R today too. 303 days.

For 284 of those days it was on the editor-in-chief's desk, but my rejection email came from an assistant editor, relaying the decision of the editor.

Just got my first rejection ever today! I've got to admit, I was kind of excited. I knew it would be a rejection so there was no dashed hopes and dreams or anything. It wasn't really a personal rejection, but they did say "You have a great voice". I think that might be just a form thing to say, but I'm pretending it's not. I feel like a real writer now.

Congratulations, may it be the beginning of many rejections and non-rejections to come (-:

I suppose it depends on the market, but "you have a great voice" sounds like a personal rejection to me; form rejections don't tend to be at all specific that way.

303 days? Poor you!

Victoria, congratulations and commiserations. Send it somewhere else.

I just got a zero day R from lightspeed. :( I wish they would leave it a day, zero days is just so embarrassing.

On the other hand, it means it's super-exciting when it takes more than zero days. I had a story at Fantasy that was under review overnight!

:hooray:

It got rejected, but still, it's a triumph.

Sorry about the R, Lillie. I'm in the same boat. Got my rejection from Lightspeed just a bit ago. We must've sent our stories out at the same time lol

Was it your identity story too?

I took my courage in both hands and sent mine on to Analog.
Yeah! Dream on, Lillie :D

Yeah it was my identity story :) hehe I think I'm going to hold off sending mine back out again. Now that there's no 4k word limit, I can expand it out to the story it originally wanted to be. But that might take some time lol

And yay for sending it to Analog! You've got to dream big ;) That's what this is all about.
