I have have a question that has been wandering around the nether-regions of my brain for a while now, and I was hoping to get an answer from more seasoned writers.

In your opinion, when you see a magazine or an anthology accepting submissions, is it better to submit you pieces right at the beginning of the submission call or is it better to wait until closer to the deadline? Or does it not really matter either way?

The later you submit, the more submissions will be ahead of yours in the queue and the longer you'll have to wait for an answer. Just send your work in as soon as you're sure it's ready, and stop worrying. It's the quality of your writing that's important here, not when you submit.

Editors take the best submissions that come in, regardless of when they arrive, so it just doesn't matter.
