I have just started a story that takes place on Terra Vi, an off-Earth colony in the year 2340. It centers around a sex shoppe (merchandise and brothel). Is this Sci Fi, Fantasy, both? I've never written anything like it before, and I have to admit it's a boatload of fun.

Erotica on its own is usually porn. It's at its best when mixed with other genres, especially romance. But it also goes well with suspense, mystery, and even scifi.

Now choose your market. It you want to appeal to scifi folks, call it Scifi - Mature or 18+.

If you think it's got more appeal to us pervs, then call it Erotica. We don't care if it's set on Mars, or a coal mine, or a raft adrift in the Pacific, or the washroom of the Orient Express, as long as there's some skin to skin contact.

Honestly, it seems like you have written some sort of space opera erotica. Actually, it sounds pretty cool and fun because it highlights the best of both genres.

Going by your description I would definitely go with Sci-Fi Erotica over fantasy. Fantasy would be more elves, magic, and dragons instead of spaceships and laser guns. Though I suppose the genres can blend depending on the existence of magic... You could probably argue that Star Wars is both science fiction AND fantasy because of the existence of the Force, though personally I would say it still focuses more on sci-fi elements than fantasy.
