1 day R from 1101 for a flash. Not really happy with this one anyway, been around a few times. Heading for the trunk.

Got a 10-day from Read Short Fiction, 33-day from OSCIMS, and an 11-day from Apex.

Ouch. Sorry, Marziolli - and to everyone else with recent R's.
Still crickets for me except for an R today for one of my novels to Tor.UK's open submission.

Sorry for the R's everyone, especially those that arrive in multiples. I've still got only early subs or old crickets out. One of the crickets is nearing query time...

And there's my 22 day personal from Shimmer. Ah, we'll.

Any other good venues for magic realism?

Oh, that's a shame to hear.

I'm guessing you could try literary venues with magic realism. A Capella Zoo specialises in it. Plus any venue that likes contemporary fantasy (eg: Andromeda Spaceways.)

I can't concentrate so I popped in here. Hope y'all don't mind.

I'd love a rejection that read, I enjoyed your novel, all it needs is a little nip and tuck, *here* and *here*, or Your plot is strong and your characters kick ass, perhaps you can delve more fully into character A's ability to kick ass whilst drunk on same. . .

something a little personalized.

Instead, I get form rejections. Oh, and that one request for a full. Wha? I wish my next response from an agent was,

Dear kkbe,

I read your novel last night. I couldn't put it down! I hope you don't mind, as soon as I finished reading it I forwarded your ms to some of the major publishing houses. Your novel's generating some exciting buzz, kkbe! I want to represent you and I won't take no for an answer. Please call me at this number--my private line--so we can talk about your wonderful book. I look forward to hearing from you!

I dunno. I'd be wary of an agent that tried to sell my work without a contract in place. He/she would either be a rookie, and/or unfamiliar with the business side of representation. ;)

I haven't tried either of those, actually. Thanks!

So... the same story that got the lovely personal R from Abyss and Apex after 6 months just got a 6 day personal R from F&SF. If the next one is 66 days, I'm seriously going to start wondering...

Sorry to hear about the R. That sucks, but this is too, too funny. :D

Thanks KD! It had me shaking my head :) Perhaps it means I have to submit the story 6 times for it to be accepted? Or... take 6 rejections in stride and then the universe will open? Or maybe, just wait until June 6? I'm enjoying all the numerology/rejectomancy possibilities!

That's wild. Don't over think it, though. Just do what you'd normally do--see what happens! I'm curious.

 Actually, could make an interesting premise for a story...

May I offer the opposite advice and say DO over think it. Where would we all be today if Charles Darwin--after noticing the subtle differences in morphology of Galapagos species--had said, "Eh, just a coincidence"?

In my fantasy, super agent golfs every Saturday with super publishers. Megadeals are routinely sealed with a wink and a handshake on the nineteenth hole. :D

 What kind of costumes do they wear? :tongue

KKB, I like your fantasy. Mind if I imagine them in the traditional golfers plaid pants, with sweaters tied to their shoulders like a cape while they call their mega-star film producers about the manuscript that must be a book and movie and television series?
