Xiao, your anthology mate P@Olo B@ciagalup1 wrote shorts and the adult novel The W1ndup G1rl, published by a small press, N1ght Shade, and then wrote the YA Sh1pbreaker and The Dr0wned C1ties in the same world for L1ttle Br0wn. So he moved between publishers and between age groups within the same world and won a Hugo, Nebula, and Printz along the way.

That is a freaking AMAZING accomplishment.

No doubt, Gretchen! I'd consider it an awesome accomplishment to be in the same anthology as he is -- like, I don't know, Xiao.

I won't quote leanan since the is bug fatigue in the thread, but that is kind of awesome in a horrifying way *adds bug idea to world building notes*

Can we talk about Rick's new bunnies now and not insects and other creepy critters?

Maryn, asking real nice

My brothers and I had to raise rabbits for 4H and FFA. I like them in pictures, and obviously dancing and making weird gestures, but I'm not partial to them as pets.

Is Maryn putting on mod hat and telling us to talk bunnies? (If not, WOULD YOU, PLEASE?)

Bunnies! They are so cute and fluffy and have adorable twitchy noses and soft ears.

Mr. RAB will not let me have a pet bunny :(
On the bright side, he probably wouldn't let me have one of Leanan's Menudo bugs either...

Becky, who's avoiding her book even worse than Phoenix.

kell, i didn't realize his adult book was
set in the same worlds as his YA? huh.
thanks!

and yeah, since the majority of editors
never blinked an eye, i'm hoping it's okay.
unless there is the feeling of "sloppy seconds". =O
ahem. the market is tough out there--as we
ALL know.

phoenix, you've convinced me not to google
it. eep! and happy writing!
/bootay shake!

i'm at 1200 words for the YA article now.

Hola, Purgies. Repped the last few pages. Don't have a lot to say.

X-Cin, Car0lyn Cr@ne had two books in a trilogy out through T0r, I think. The third was published by S@mhain. Then she went on to SP novellas from within the same world. If your non-compete clauses aren't too restrictive, you'll be fine. Readers won't care.

My husband and my mother doing politics on facebook. Someone shoot me.
Remember when I was laughing-horrified-intrigued by my husband joining FB? He didn't stop there. Guess who's on Twitter, if only to investigate. :jaw:

OMG WHY DID I GOOGLE MUKADE? WHY?

The levels to which I will take procrastination while writing...
1+ I hear ya.

Apropos of nothing, I have a Soviet Union matryoshka doll I got in Leningrad in 1990. Black market shit. The largest is Gorbachev (complete with birth mark), then Brezhnev, Khrushchev, Stalin and Lenin.

On the subject of bugs, Japan has a horrifying alien centipede called a mukade which I will not link a picture of. (Google it if you're brave.) They're ridiculously hard to kill, and they travel in couples, so if you manage to successfully smash one, the other one smells it somehow and comes for revenge. :scared:The recommended way to kill them is via drowning. Oh, and they're venomous.

:dire:

i remember my dad killed a roach
in our house when i was a teen and
squeezed out its egg sac.

YUMMY YUMMO YUMM!

Almost always never where I should be...
Good morning everyone. Not much in the way of writing going on here. The back is still very painful. I still have no idea why. It hasn't been this painful in four years. Struggling off to work. Hope you all have good days.
