I am interested in getting a Kirkus review for my new YA LGBTQ Contemporary Romance title. It is targeted at ages 13-21, however, adults would find it entertaining, as well. There are only two choices on the kirks form, audience- children or adult? Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with regard to which I should choose?

THANK YOU!!!

If it's YA, you should mark it as Children even if it appeals to adults.

Also YA is 13-17, 18-21 would be adult or 'New adult.'

Thank you. It is just such an expensive endeavor that I want to get it right.

Before you commit to it, work out how many copies you'd have to sell to cover the cost of the review; and then consider how likely it is that you'd sell that many copies as a result of the review.

I know many writers who have bought themselves a Kirkus review. I don't know many who felt it was a worthwhile investment a few months after the event.
