Ummm... dolphin sex..... riiiight...
Actually to be completely honest, while I find this WEIRD and wrong from a personal religious standpoint, I don't find it squicky or revolting. I was wondering today whether this is a writing thing - collecting strange and unique experiences. Like, I'll have a weird/unusual/bizarre experience and go, "Hey! That was cool!" And then when I go tell someone else they give me the
look and back away. Like I told a few people how I accidentally ended up in this old school karaoke bar last week with all these horny dudes getting up to sing. And everyone thinks I'm nuts for not fleeing immediately. I'm like, hey, it's not like I'd do this regularly, but I was in no danger from anything but getting hit on, and it was weird and interesting! I live for that stuff.
I'm going to go back through and rep, but a quick question for your veteran queriers: I just realized last night that I didn't include a synopsis for the agent whose guidelines require it (along with the query letter and sample pages). Did I just blow my shot on that one?
You can do a resend if you like, but even if you don't I think you're fine. I think if they like your query, they'll ask for whatever they want. If they don't, they won't. You see agents whining about this stuff all over, but it doesn't really apply to reasonable people IMO. I used to have to plow through 300+ emails a week from random folks for my day job, and my response would be something like this:
- Hmmm, I like what they had to say, but they forgot to do X. Probably just forgot, I'll email and ask.
OR
- Argh, this email is SO STUPID it's actually lowering my IQ. AND THEY FORGOT X! WTF, delete!
The complaints you see are a result of the second category.
Had my oncologist check up this morning, and got the all-clear on another 6 months. Still have to brave the dermatologist next week, but I'll take it.
That's terrific!!!
I've been sort of absent the past couple of days because first I lost my cell phone - in the house, but it ran out of batteries so I couldn't CALL it to find it. And THEN my internet went belly up because of some little router issue. So yesterday I was totally off the radar! Kind of nice to have a little break, actually... got some actual revising done. Speaking of which...
