I'm happy.

Kind of empty feeling. Been doing school for so long that I don't really remember what jobs feel like. Trying to find work that doesn't seem repugnant, slave-wagey, and that also wants me.

Wait, damn it, I'm celebrating.

Congratulations! What a wonderful accomplishment. That empty feeling you mentioned may be what I call "post-adrenalin blues." Often, when we push and push and push and then suddenly stop, we're left feeling off balance and even a bit disoriented. I wrote about this on my Psychology Today blog. The remedy is to treat ourselves with gentleness during the recovery period. Rest, exercise, healthy food, and time spent with friends or loved ones can all help us recalibrate. Just knowing this is a common reaction can also be reassuring.
