That first shot looks incredibly familiar, but I haven't been out west, so it must just be a popular subject. Care to share equipment and settings?

The first shot is from Glen Canyon NRA on the Utah/AZ border.
Various equipment, all Canon. The first shot was with a 300D Digital Rebel and the 18-55 kit lens.

The only reassuring thing about being eaten by a crocodile is knowing that you must taste good.

Is that the Pleiades in the upper left? Sure looks like it? Here's some from Cascade park in Elyria, OH, my home town...

Those bridges in the photos are 1800's & still in use. The park sort of rambles around town. We used to play there as kids all the time. Fireworks on July 4th viewed on the sled hill. Last night, I started writing a first contact story that happens at the base of the sled hill.

You need to see the Cuyahoga Valley in the fall...

I pass right through it, a national park, heading to Akron to Summit Racing...

After seeing your photos, I looked up Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It is now on my must-see list. Thanks for posting the photos.

Your photographs are spectacular, RikWriter! I could picture any one of them in National Geographic, but the wolves are stunning. The water, the composition, the stark wild mood all speak to me... I hope you have or will plan on submitting it to one of their contests!

I miss SK.

RikWriter - awesome shots!! Do keep contributing!

unionrdr - nice fall color

It's been too long since I posted

Here's a couple I took a couple months ago at the botanical gardens. Unfortunately the male only spread his tail-fan when he was facing away from me. :(

from the Big Sky Country

Sharing a few photos from my neck of the woods (NW Montana, USA).

Logan Pass, Glacier National Park, MT

Elephanthead. Glacier National Park.

Rocky Mountain Goat, Glacier National Park. He was right beside the road, not more that five or six feet from the truck window. Wife stopped the truck, so I just leaned out and took several shots. This is the best of them.

Last, but not least (for this round, anyway), here's a photo of my wife (the J in "J. R. Hardesty") pickle chipping a milk jug with her German Zweihander (two-handed sword). Now you know why I don't argue with her!

Enjoy! Until next time, best wishes from Glacier Country!

I wouldn't mess with the wielder of that sword, either. Puts the ginsu bread knife I got for Christmas to shame.. Nice pics, though!

I miss Silver King too, pkbax..

Got these this morning, it snowed in the desert. LOL.

I have some more, but these were already loaded. ;)

Those elephant heads look like touch-me-nots? Strange seeing snow in the dessert, even though it does get cold at night. Even in the summer. Surprising how all that rock doesn't hold any heat.

The rocks did hold heat, and didn't have any snow (which is why all the doves were sunning on them). The ground in the foreground of the mountain photo is just dirt. :)

So this morning, with 4 sugar feeders up, and 8 hummingbirds flying - got some nice shots.

Some more pictures of the peacocks from the botanic gardens:

This was as close as I could get while one had his tailfan open but I thought it was a nice shot with one looking on:

And I got two males together
