Casting Your Novel

Everyone's novels sound wonderful!

My novel is called Shadow and it's told from the third-person perspective of four teens, but it's mostly about Dawn a girl who has a contract with Death, who is hell-bent on making her his wife and not because he loves her...


Victoria "Dawn" Montgomery


(portrayed by Jurnee Smollett)

Age: 16
Nicknames: Her name is Victoria, and before she was taken by Death, she liked to be called Vicky or Vick but she hates to be called Victoria or any form of that name, because she hates how Death says it. So she's Dawn. (In the story, she joked about being Dawn of the Dead)
About: Her Guardian Angel (she doesn't remember him) had failed to protect her when she was a baby, so Death stepped in and saved her Life. Now, she escorts Souls (which is what humans are called) to a realm called Decessus, which means resting place for the soul in Latin.

Wesley "Switch" Darwin


(portrayed by Lucas Grabeel)

Age: 17
Nicknames: Switch. He got this nickname because he is a horrible liar and he's always trying to switch up the story.
About: He lives in a rural town where some of the Fallen are starting to cause trouble. He and his brother Jack were on a date with their girlfriends when they were attacked by Fallen. Wesley got away but his brother was dragged away and now Wesley, with the help of his priest, is on a mission to save his brother and possibly save the world.

Gillian "Gil" Scarborough


(portrayed by Alexz Johson)

Age: 19
Nicknames: Gil or Lily
About: After being in a coma for one year, she wakes up with the ability to see ghost and talk to angels. People think she's crazy and call her a freak. She runs away from home, hoping to find answers to what happened to her and then, meets Cain, her Guardian Angel.

Brayden Alice Rigby


(portrayed by William Moseley)

Age: He died at 16
Nicknames: Dawn calls him Al
About: He's a shadow (ghost) who walks around the cometary (where Dawn hangs out). He reports all the things that's going on back to her and he even helps take down some Demons.

Gabriel Stone

(portrayed by Ben Barnes)

Age: Unknown
Nicknames: Really doesn't care for them
About: He was Dawn's Guardian Angel until he lost the war with the Demons who were trying to Covet her Soul. This is considered on of the worse crimes an Angel can do, besides falling in love with their Child, so he was stripped of his Wings, which is an Angel's heart, without them they will die or become Demons. When Gabriel Falls to Earth he doesn't remember anything about his former Life or anything about Dawn.

Awe...LOL...Awe...LOL,I laughed even though it was wrong. Sorry Red, it was a little funny. I never thought of him as gay though LOL

LMFAO Taylor as Harrison is HILARIOUS. That made me laugh.

I have a very large cast. XD Hang on a sec...

The narrator and MC. A freshman in college, she is about as ordinary as a human can get. However, after accidentally killing a member of the feared thieving gang, the Manigoldo, she is forced to replace him. She has no real offensive powers, but has a good head on her shoulders. Her mortality and logic are often times her weakness.


The enigmatic leader of the Manigoldo. His personality changes erratically and he can be very unpredictable. He can be polite and gentleman-ly one moment and then a cruel killer the next. He controls fire with his right hand.


...The other characters are much harder to cast. Some I can't just because they don't have a human appearance (poor Carr...) so I'll only post a few of the other major characters.

A bird-like demoness and second in command of the Manigoldo. She once went to Miranda's college, a good ninety years ago, and even once was married to a human. She is motherly, friendly, and a bit flamboyant. However, it is not wise to anger her. She's Nicodemus' right hand for a reason.

Mark can hide in shadows and see in the dark, thanks to a third eye on his forehead. Aero can fly and see very far, thanks to a third eye on his forehead. Mark is reserved and quiet. Aero is kind and slightly naive. They are Miranda's first Manigoldo allies. Aero and Mark can merge into one being.

The quiet and reserved demon who can go through anything solid, be it people or objects. He appears indifferent to everything, but can be surprisingly nice.

(The only reason I picked him was because his facial features are right. Make him green and scaly and THEN he's Peter) Stubborn, loyal but cruel, he is undyingly loyal to Nicodemus...but he also has a terrible rebellious streak. He can protrude spikes all over body and project them too. He is green and has scaly skin, yellow eyes, bald and forked tail, so he can't go in public often.

An intelligent, vicious and bitter shapeshifter who's loyalty to Nicodemus and the Manigoldo is unquestionable. (Because she is a shapeshifter, her appearance may change. This is just her "primary form" here.)

He is a young but talented detective at the New Oxford’s FDC (Federal Demon Control) center. Intelligent, lucky and stubborn, he is Miranda’s number one rival in the FDC. Although he follows the laws religiously and by the letter, Hess is actually open-minded when it comes to demons.


And the last character, Carr, is pretty unmatchable to anyone, considering he has about two lines and looks like a walking golem, SO, he doesn't get casted.
