I've just been sent an email about a fundraiser for Katherine Kerr - author of the Deverry Series amongst others.

Her husband has had Alzheimers for a while now, she is in the income bracket where she can't afford to hire a carer, but earns enough to not qualify for government help. Fellow writer Alis Rasmussen has started a fund raiser to help her - the idea is to raise money for day care assistance, so that Katherine can have some respite. Hopefully then she will be able to finish the Deverry book she is writing and then she will have more income.

The collection has gone extremely well. Alis Rasmussen was hoping for $12,000 to fund 20 weeks of care.
They've achieved $15,770 from 391 supporters.

That put a massive smile on my face. Really good start to the year.
