I'm just adjusting.

Actually, if you swap out the Dr. Who and Fez hat for Star Trek and Starfleet uniform, he's a lot like me at that age.

It took him forever to get up the nerve to ask her out. Just like me.

Someone who is a big fan of Dr Who. If it were Star Trek, we'd call them Trekkers or Trekkies.

Kid dressing like Dr. Who, fez hat and all for school dances. That's were my daughter met him. She noticed him because he was Dr. #11.

You mean there's people who CAN'T rock a proper Vulcan salute?!? :e2thud:

My mother, her fingers start to cramp when she tries (and she's never quite been able to do it anyway, even when she was younger)

Shoot, they had to tie William Shatner's fingers together because he couldn't do the vulcan salute at all. LOL! Love that, it makes me laugh.

First time they did that on the original Star Trek, Lenard Nimoy did it with an elderly actree. She couldn't do it either, so she used her other hand to get her fingers into position while the camara was close up and you couldn't see it.

Useless piece of trivia there.

Oh and it was Nimoy's idea. He got it from Synogouge.

Back in the day, you learned to do something like that in typing class so "warm up" your hands before the lessons, so I can do it with both hands.

Yeah, I know that some of the actors had to have fingers taped (Zach Quinto's another one), though Cecila Lowry could only do it with her left hand, not her right, so she mirrored Leonard, which was cool. And, yes, Leonard got it from the rabbi blessing the congregation (the rabbi also used both hands for the blessing).

Why yes, I am a first generation Trekker. Why do you ask? ;)

Update: my daughter is at the mall right now on a double date with the Whovian. And he's dressed like Dr. Who, fez hat and all. So is his friend who is there waiting for his gf to show up.

They're walking around the mall in the coats and hats and all.

Relax, Vince. She'll be fine, he's not really DrWHo after all :) If he were, then you might have a problem. :D

Well, that would be the fun of it, though. If he WERE the Doctor, then she could go off with him, jot about the universe and history/future for a while, then return the same moment she'd left--and no one might be the wiser for it. ;)

I'm just wondering why it takes divine intervention for a fan to see something they enjoy? The way he carries on sometimes, y'know?

I had tickets to see KISS once. Got the flu. That's what I get for being an atheist. :D

I had a chance to see American Authors for free, but it was too long a drive and parking would have been non-existent

So daughter just came home from date with the Whovian. They went bowling and his mom drove them home so I got to meet her and him. He seems like a very nice, very polite young man.

And he didn't wear the fez hat. Just for the movies and dances maybe?

So, I was informed by my kids yesterday that "Things aren't too different with Dad gone." (Working in India for the last two weeks through the end of April.)

I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
