When I was listening to audio samples to find a narrator for my book, I heard a couple of great female voices, where I then found out the narrators were really males. Some of the voice actors were stunning with the range of voice types they could imitate. Then again, some of them charged very, very much for it too.
ETA: And who knows, it could be they wouldn't be able to keep up that level of believability throughout an entire book.
