It's the last day of February! Time to post our goals for the coming month.

I had a pretty feeble February due to my work commitments and am anticipating an equally busy March, so I'm giving myself only three goals. I'm not going to push myself to finish the first draft of my WIP; instead, I'm just gonna aim at achieving a word count to keep me going:

Write 10k words on WIP: 0 out of 10,000
Read two books: 0 out of 2
Write one blog post: 0 out of 1

I'm so glad February is over...I did such a dismal job at my goals.

March!
*Ten journal entries
*Finish reading current book
*Read the three writing books I just bought
*Create a new Scrivener file for Part One rewrites, with all the index cards filled out
*Rewrite Chapter One (and post on SYW!)
*Write 5000 words of new material

Here goes!

I'm changing my goals to just a word count of 2,000 a day. It's a lot, but I need to do a lot of catching up.

2. Revise draft, ready to submit for Dysprosium workshop by March 6th
3. Edit & sub ghost story
4. 1,500 words of Beetle critical essay written & sent to Fred
5. 500 words of critical self-reflections, submitted to workshop
6. Read 8 books
7. Write 6 reading logs for EL
8. Write 2 reading logs for CW

...let's see how this goes!

Okay. Goals!

1. Finish editing nonfiction WIP.
2. Finish first draft of Black Book (about 13k left to go).
3. Re-read TLC draft.
4. Finish writing TLC (not much left to go, I think).
5. Flesh out the outline for Little House, to write in April.
6. Read 3 books.
7. ETA: Write at least 4 blog posts.

Giving myself a challenge this month. :)

This is my first time participating in this post. I am also just getting back into regular writing after a few years away, so I am not sure if these are realistic goals, but here goes:

- Increase my word count on my WIP by at least 5000 words (Currently at 4246 as of March 1)
- Finish the 2 books I am reading. (both are 900+ pages so I will stick with just these two for now.)
- Turn one of my old blogs into a writing blog and post at least 2 entries.
- Post at least 4 entries on my personal blog
- Revive my business blog and post at least 4 entries
- Write copy for my business website (I sell items that I make and need better descriptions)
- Purchase Scrivener (using the trial version now)

Sounds like a plan, I missed the Febnowrimo. I recently finished the basic outline this past month, so here's the push I need, thank you. My goals:

1. Write at least 10k in my WIP.
2. Read 2 books.
3. Update blog at least twice.

Just edited my previous post to add blogging to my list of goals. Which I was reminded of because I just wrote a blog post (not yet published online).

So, that's 1/4 blog posts done. And I've also read about 11% of a Kindle book (which I was already halfway through when March started).

* finish the outline of NaNo'14 WIP (finally!)
* write at least 30K of NaNo'14 WIP (which probably won't finish it, but will hopefully give me enough momentum to finish it in the beginning of April)
* read 3 books
* read (and meditate on) the entire book of Psalms

I need to do better in March than I did in February.

1. Edit four chapters of novel
2. Edit two stories
3. Read four books
4. Either 500 words or 2 edited pages a day

That's actually less goals, but I'm hoping to push past them and do more chapters to make up for missing ones last month. The two stories are already half finished, I just need to make them submittable-ready.

I've decided to look on my computer dying as an opportunity to catch up on some reading and writing before I fall back into a gaming hole. I'm reading The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet atm, and that's going slowly because I'm matching it up to a rewatch of the show.

I think I last joined in with this about two years ago. I'm going to aim for writing 257 words a day on my story.

Welcome back! Any reason for the specificity of the number? Is it lucky for you?

Read another 10% of this Kindle book. And I just added 900 words to the nonfiction book. Not really "editing" per se, more that I thought of an extra section to add. It's up to 11.4k now. :)

I'm going with a smaller list this time.

  • Clean up novella third part and send to critique group
  • Finish current short story
  • Get my other waiting short stories submitted

Here goes :)

'round numbers are so cliché'.

It's very early here, and this just made me laugh out loud. Touche.

I'm really not so thrilled with all the carrying over goals I've been doing. I want to be able to mark as done or not done. Half-done is not my style. Therefore, goal format revision!

  • Edit Chapter 5
  • Edit Chapter 6
  • Edit Chapter 7
  • Send SK out for second round beta
  • Write first draft of SK query
  • Begin writing SNI

I'm happy to have "begin writing something" on my list again but I'm half-tempted to leave it for April as a Camp month. I need to start rounding up my writing buddies and being a better cheerleader/taskmaster.

Mostly, I just want to sleep a week after this weekend chasing teenagers and robots. I don't know how parents manage.

4 books.
50K words.
A short story.
And 3 blog posts.

I did all right in February, except for I only did one blog post. I really need to do better.
I sent out a short story in February even though that wasn't on my list. So, I'd say it's fair ;)

Two-show day yesterday (the last performances of our press weekend), and consequently nothing was accomplished but a little reading (Chuck Wendig's 250 Things You Should Know About Writing, which is informative but the style is REALLY wearing on me). However, I did get my short story from the Sekrit Solstice Swap and am hoping to get it read tonight when I have time to really relish it.

I also received edits from my agent for my second book but can't bring myself to open the email yet; I know I'll probably get depressed once I start going through her notes because I really don't want to revisit Book 2 right now - I want to keep moving ahead on Book 3. But it has to be done. So - an amendment to my March goals, breaking the editing job down into small, manageable bites:

Write 10k words on WIP: 0 out of 10,000
Read two books: 0 out of 2
Write one blog post: 0 out of 1
Review agent notes on Book 2
Make revisions to Book 2 as necessary

Arrrrrrrr....

I'm having the darnest time trying to end my book. Every time I think I've written the final chapter another twist happens and its 5k more words until the end. The book is at 97k words. The ending is so close, but I can't figure out a good stopping point. I'm about ready to throw my characters off a cliff, which actually wouldn't end the book either considering that several of them can fly. Damn it!
