When I turned 40 all my friends who were a bit younger had a good time at my expense (they even put banners and posters all over the office).

A few years later, when they were turning 40 . . . they were scared. One or two actually begged me not to do anything to embarrass them.

I, of course, uh, behaved. :-")

It's my last day of classes for the semester today.

Woo!

I got up early so I could spend more time online in the morning before I left, but now I can't find much to do. The threads I normally visit aren't very active right now...

:Hug2:

Cakes reverse the ageing process.

Or rather, if you eat enough cake, you don't care how old you are.

True story.

 I shall have to practice this tomorrow.

The kee kat looks like he's in an invisible box.

I made up a batch of cornbread tonight to go with my leftover chili. I ate half of it before I remembered to eat some chili, too. Bad, bad girl. But at least I make the kind without any sugar or white flour in it, so it's not as bad as it might be (except maybe for all that butter).

I could just about make a meal out of some good cornbread and butter.

I use those fancy-schmancy coated cast iron French skillets these days. I just don't want the trouble of taking care of a true cast iron one anymore.

My mother has a cast iron skillet that is like 70 years old. The thing is as black and as smooth as you can imagine.

I bought an old one at a salvation army. It's a beauty. Nothing sticks to it, so it's reasonably easy to clean. Someone told me that if you fry bacon in it at least once a week, it'll stay nice and seasoned. I'm happy to comply with that rule (and it does seem to work).

I have a coated cast iron dutch oven I adore, but I swear by my plain old-fashioned skillet!

I'd love me an iron skillet. It would be handy for keeping the family members in line. Especially now when both of them are on my last nerve. :evil

Glad I have one. Never had to use it quite like that but I have threatened to so maybe that was enough.

:roll:When my mother married my father, the girls at her office gave her a shower. They gave her a rolling pin, an electric blanket and a can of soup.
