A dark, evil place.
It seems to me clearer than sin
That the poets themselves should chime in.
'Cause our posts just destroy
The craft they all enjoy
When we don't post where we should have been.

Which is back in the Cabaret because

You know, pup, I'm inclined to agree
with the substance of your last decree.
Your verses and Porter's
are way out of order,
but the poets are still stuck with me.

oh, I can't be poetic on command.
But my doggerel need not be planned.
I can toss off a rhyme
any day, any time,
though most of my stuff should be banned.

Besides, if I may give some advice,
You need not be poetic (or nice) --
if you're not dead
you can be in this thread.
Simply being alive will suffice.

And pffft, even there, we've exceptions --
we've accorded a hearty reception
to certain undead
in this ragtag thread --
Haggis has been here since its inception.

So this last summer, I was in Alaska for a geology field course slash native outreach trip.

I was writing haibun for our native center's travel blog, and taking photos to accompany the posts.

We weren't technically supposed to be drinking on the trip, but we would sneak off into the wilderness to have a few.

I liked one picture but there was a beer in my friend's hand, so I photoshopped it out for the blog.

The shopped photo just appeared in a spread about it in our college's magazine, and I can't stop giggling over it.

My words are also there, but unfortunately none of the haiku.

I think you should write a haiku about that photoshopped picture and post both of them in this thread.

kuwi wrote haiku
But it no longer exists
Blame it on the beer

The chihuahua with a wagging tail,
making brewskies disappear.
With love for lager and for ale,
the chihuahua with a wagging tail
leaves a liquid yellow trail
composed entirely of beer.

Wait -- did Stew say no one could write triolets in this thread, or just that she wouldn't be writing them?

She said she couldn't write them but liked reading them, so I imagine you're fine.

Excellent!

See, we needed a thread for this kind of thing. It's a thread about nothing, so everything goes.

:)

But sometimes a triolet is the only way my thoughts can be expressed. It's like when I post in courier font.

Freedom, man. It's what it's all about.

Freedom is wonderful
I'm about to be slumberful
Feel free to be mirtherful.

I have a bad habit of getting myself into poetic jams.

It's hard to rhyme with 'indian'.
