I will say #1 is the lie, too, only because I'd say as cool as Cosby is, he may be a wee bit inaccessible to actually "meeting" servers. I can see it happening, but EVERYBODY wants to meet Cosby, so maybe he builds up protections a littlemore.

iLion and Nym...wrong.

Our whole staff was introduced to the Cos before service...I was a bit put off with him though because as he passed the dishwashers and busboys, he sang the song Minimum Wage...still makes me grumble.

Well, that leaves #2 and #3. I'll take the bait and say that #2 is the LIE (the secret service, the Secy of State), though I originally thought it was a true statement put there to trick us.

Nym!!:Trophy:

They weren't secret service men; they were bodyguards but they acted just like in the movies with their black suits and hands up to ears...but they never sat. And I can't for the life of me remember who was so important that needed that protection. I need to make a few phone calls.

Here we go again. :e2bike2:

#1. I built a scale model of the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides).
#2. I made a chessboard out of tiny ceramic tiles.
#3. I dug potatoes in Idaho.

I think #2 is lie. It would be extremely boring to make a chess board, for anyone to complete the task.

Haha! (or hehe, if you prefer)

Jaus and iLion both strike out!

#2 is TRUE. A long time ago, my girlfriend and I got into playing chess when we didn't have anything better to do. So I decided to give her a Christmas present of a chessboard. Somehow, I got turned on to the idea of making a mosaic, so I bought some tiles at a hobby shop (not Hobby Lobby!) and other materials and made the chessboard. It took me forever!

#3 is TRUE. One summer, as a teenager, I worked on my uncle's farm in Idaho and got sent into the fields to dig potatoes all day. (I'm quite sure it was not the same summer iLion was in neighboring Wyoming marrying people.) ;)

#1, of course, is the LIE! I never built a model of any ship. :e2steer:

who doesn't love Chopped? So that leaves #2 & #3. They do seem to rule each other out: If two then not three; if three then not two. I'll go with the concert. Bronc seems a bit young for Heavy Metal so i'm calling that one true so the NASCAR must be true.--s6

Hmmm, bikers, race cars, and heavy metal...seems to be a theme there.

I'm calling you out on Nascar....many of my Nascar friends have no feelings for hamsters.

I'll chip in.

I'll agree with Albedo. No Nascar. #2 is a LIE!

I know that Bronc is into NASCAR because it says so in her AW signature, but I'm guessing that she's never gone to a race in an RV.

So I'm seconding and thirding Albedo and Nymtoc: Number Two is a lie!

...or she's gone fishing because of the overwhelming evidence of # 2 being THE big lie!

I reckon it's my time to fool everyone:

1. The ratio between average amount of money spent on tobacco / booze is at least 2:1.

2. The ratio between my F. Zappa albums / pairs of shoes is at least 10:1.

3. The ratio between total number of cars / suits I ever owned is at least 15:1.

Just can't be honest with us, huh, Robbert? ;)

I'm saying #3 is the LIE! 15 cars to one suit? In fact, 15 cars to anything is a lot of cars--unless you are a classic car collector. Or did you mean the opposite--15 suits to one car? That I could believe.

Well...

#1 and #2 also seem a bit iffy, so I'll stick with #3.

I say #2 is a bunch of Zappa Zappa Crappa. While there are almost 100 Zappa albums, that would mean at the most, Robbert has ten pairs of shoes. I admit that I am a shoe whore but ten pairs of shoes-- strikes me as minimalist. Especially for a guy who has only one suit! --s6

Gotcha! Both of you!

Please mind your language, Ms Smith! (Zappa Crappa) ;)

#3 is true
My one and only suit was the one I was given at confirmation. Since 1990, I've owned exactly five different cars. But in the decade before ...being a student... it worked out a whole lot cheaper to dispose of a car when its MOT was due (yearly), and get another old banger.

#2 is true
Zappa albums (vinyl + CD's): 49. Not once did I own more than five pairs of shoes at a time.

#1 is the LIE!
I spend zero money on booze. I'm a smoker :rolleyes

Robbert was too clever for us :Headbang: But I'm not giving up. Here are three statements guaranteed to fool you all.

#1. I was briefly a member of the National Rifle Association
#2. I once spent an evening with a murderer
#3. I never eat clam chowder

You're not a fussy eater--the soup is true.

You've met queer folk in your time--the murderer is true.

But a boy scout simply wouldn't join a Rifle Association. LIE!

CURSES! You both got me!

#1 is a LIE. I never belonged to the NRA.
#2 is TRUE. A couple of years ago, I participated in a program to help ex-prisoners find work. Part of what they needed to learn was how to act in job interviews. We engaged in role-playing, where I would play the prospective employer. One of my "students" was a murderer.
#3 is also TRUE. Shakey is on target. Clam chowder is icky! :D

ETA: The NRA once sent me an elegant-looking membership card, with my name on it. I don't know how I got on their mailing list, since I never look at their website and rarely log onto any far-right-wing sites. Anyway, the impressive-looking card would not have been valid until I sent them my enrollment fee. Somehow, I forgot to do that. But doesn't that make me "briefly a member of the NRA," so isn't my #1 statement true?

Okay, here's an easy one:

# 1. I'm a trained (dusty) miller who came out top of the City & Guilds.

# 2. I'm a state certified engineer, and yet choose not to work as an engineer.

# 3. I passed the state examination as a teacher, and yet choose not to work in state-run education.
