Teens Writing for Teens, issue 6

Wait till you have to do your thesis. My own one puts me to sleep as i'm reading it.

I think mine will be creative writing based. I hope it is.

I ADORE essay writing. And yes, since I'm in the IB program, I actually do write full research essays. But other than the time my English teacher was basically like "Write a book that follows the essential Hero's Journey outline" essays are the most fun I have in English class. I had a major research essay this fall in which we could choose our subject... I chose feminism and how it's perceived and degraded in today's media... *drooling* FAVORITE THING.

I am very homesick today for seasons and the fact that my mother and I will never get to go to the market to buy a pumpkin for Halloween or a pine tree for Christmas again.

ETA: Cheer me up by reading this snippet? Veronika, Danielle and Sophie have gone over to a nearby school, Kensington Hall, to interview students to see if they can get more information on an attempted murder at a party.

Veronika turned around. Sophie was staring up at Kensington’s high ceilings, and Danielle was socializing with all the students near the main entrance. Veronika groaned.

“We are on a mission, you know,” she said.

“I do know!” exclaimed Danielle. “Here, watch!” She whipped out her phone and turned to one of the girls, a brunette with purple nail polish she’d apparently managed to hide from the teachers all day. “What is your name?”

The girl frowned. “Are you texting someone?”

“I’m taking notes on this interview,” replied Danielle.

The girl’s eyes widened. “I did not agree to an interview—“

“This is not a democracy!” exclaimed Danielle. “What’s your name?”

Working on the short story. Hating it.

Lucky you, i had to pick a topic chemistry related. So thinking i was so clever i picked Antimatter as my Thesis project. Why? Because in my mind I thought "None of my professors will know anything in depth about this, so i'll be safe from questions."

Little did i know that my adviser (the one who hates me) studies the topic just for fun.

I only blame myself, because i should have realized that he would be the type of person to study hard core quantum mechanics on a Friday night for fun...

This is why I am NOT IN CHEMISTRY!

(along with the fact that... I am terrible at Chemistry... and am in high school... and am terrible at Chemistry... as well as Biology... and any science I've ever done really... EXCEPT THE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM. What does that say about me?)

(ooh, also, I know the digestive system very well, because I spent an eight hour car ride cramming it the day before my final exam and spent that entire ride turning to anyone eating and lecturing them on what's going into their body)

I wanted to be a doctor at one point.

I did too! Until I was about 10 or 11.

Basically, my body underwent a certain... development and I was like YOU KNOW WHAT I DON'T FEEL LIKE DEALING WITH BLOOD THAT MUCH ANY MORE I DIDN'T REALIZE PEOPLE HAD THIS MUCH OF IT AND I'VE HAD MORE THAN MY SHARE OF IT THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

After this, my mom was like, "You know, not all types of doctors have to deal with blood" but I was GONE.

The Tube is being stupid this week, so I don't think I'm going to go to class at 9 tomorrow, but I'm going to go in a bit later to get work and hand in work.

I don't trust the Tube.

I can't wait to take the metro again when I move back to CANADA.

(tube/metro/subway are all the same thing)

I was wondering where your boarding school is. Canada, then?

What do you mean by 'writing buddy'? As in, go YAWNing? Together? Separate? Cheerleader? It can mean so many things.
