I agree with those who are saying you should read more high fantasy! Read Tolkien for the world-building, read George RR Martin for multi-faceted characters in a setting where good and evil is often gray, and then read a whole lot of other things. I think you'll soon find that 99.9% of stories are not just about a good guy fighting a bad guy. Plus, you'll have tons of fun and fall in love with hobbits
