I agree they could be sending out feelers. I had the photography producer for the production company that does "The Following" buy the 1st ed of my book Bread & Butter the Murders of Polly Frisch (1856 true crime) off Amazon last fall. I mail those from the house. Why did he get it? Who knows. Coolest order I ever got though. So anything is possible.

A writer friend of mine usually gets her books optioned. At most she buys a nice pair of shoes from it. The option clauses usually have a deadline of a few years, so when it runs out another company can jump in and buy the rights.

A lot of movies have been made from short stories and magazine articles - in fact, they translate just as well as a book. A 55 page non fic sounds right up their alley!

Update: I have an attorney to help me out (many thanks to a fellow AW member!!!).

The interest is genuine. I don't know yet what the option money will be, but my attorney has warned me it will be on the slim side. He also explained the chances of hitting it big are a bit like playing the lottery.

But hey, when you play the lottery YOU pay. With this THEY pay me, even if it is a small amount, and my odds are better than the lottery.

So I don't have any grandiose dreams, but I'm enjoying the ride none the less!

Thanks for the update. In agreement with everyone else - the title alone is intriguing and I can definitely picture it as a movie.

Crossing my fingers (and toes) for you. Do let us know if you have anything further to share later on. :)

Thanks so much everyone for your support!

Here's my update:

It was real! Thanks to another member of AW, I got an attorney (who is working on a percentage as agents do). He helped me with the contract, and I signed yesterday.

I still can't believe it!

Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing it on the big screen. :) Or the smaller screen - maybe it will be a made-for-tv movie.

Ok, just for fun - who do you think should play you?

Thanks so much everyone for sharing my excitement! I will update you if anything happens with the option. ;)

That depends :D. Do you mean my dream--someone like Julia Roberts (I adore her), or someone more true to life--like a female version of John Goodman! LOL!
