2013 BLUECAT SCREENPLAY COMPETITION FINAL DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 15th

Discovering & Developing Writers since 1998

BlueCat provides two pieces of written feedback to the writer as a part of the entry fee, the only screenplay competition to do so. This ensures each screenplay is fairly judged and provided quality notes from professional readers.

Founded and judged by award-winning screenwriter Gordy Hoffman, BlueCat has developed a keen eye for exposing screenwriting talent through our diligent and committed analysis of each submission.

For nearly fifteen years, BlueCat’s recognition and development of undiscovered screenwriters from around the world has paved the way for many of our writers, including:

~ Signings by major agencies like UTA, CAA and WME.
~ Selling work to studios like Warner Bros, Paramount and Universal.
~And most importantly, seeing their work produced on the big screen.

In nearly every occasion, the awards and honor bestowed by BlueCat proved to be the first professional acknowledgment for the writer.

Recently, BlueCat winner THE MAN IN THE REVIEW MIRROR, by Andy Pagana and Justin Thomas, sold for low-mid six figures. And BlueCat Finalist Aaron Guzikowski’s CONTRABAND, starring Mark Wahlberg, was released by Universal.

PRIZES
*Grand Prize Winner -The winner of the BlueCat Screenplay will receive $10,000.
*Finalists - Four finalists receive $2,000 each.
*The Cordelia Award - The best screenplay from the UK will be awarded the Cordelia Award and will receive $1,000.
*The Joplin Award - The best screenplay from outside the USA, Canada and the UK will be awarded the Joplin Award and will receive $1,000.

The Fox-NYTVF Comedy Script Contest is on again.

Already got a script done (first draft, anyway).
And, now they're accepting submissions. Until June 3, or they receive 1500 entries, whichever comes first.

Just sent mine in. (Found that they required a logline and a synopsis in the submission process; don't remember that from earlier years.)

Looking for a Paid Writing Partner

Hello,

I am a film producer though that is not my main business :)

I have produced one 30 minute film in Europe and it is currently running in festivals there. The budget was low 6 figures.

The movie was from a story of mine and I hired a professional screenwriter for the screenplay.

Now I am looking at producing a feature in the United States. I have a story and rough treatment and partial screenplay for a movie set in California.

I am here looking for a writing partner to work with me through the process. I am willing to pay the right person, though it will not be WGA rates. PM me if interested.

Stupid question here: Is that deadline Sept 1, 2013 or Sept 1, 2014?

Thanks!

The (early) deadline for submissions is Sep 1, 2013. The contest winners are announced in 2014, which is why it's considered the 2014 contest.

Question: Is this a place to post playwriting contests as well? Or is there a separate thread for that somewhere that I'm not seeing?

Showtime Tony Cox Screenwriting Competition

Hi all!
Just wanted to spread the word about the Showtime Tony Cox TV and Film Screenwriting Competition at Nantucket Film Festival this year! Nantucket Film Festival aims to promote the cultural awareness and appreciation of the art of screenwriting in the world of cinema. Each year we host a screenwriting competition in both TV and film, aimed to recognize and celebrate up and coming writers. As the competition is in its second year, we are looking to put the word out in as many applicable venues as possible. We are mostly looking for 30-minute or 60-minute TV Pilot scripts, but screenplays for shorts or feature length films are also welcome. Please check out our links for more information on the festival, prizes, and the submission process!

2015 BlueCat Movie Title Contest

2015 BlueCat Screenplay Competition

MOVIE TITLE CONTEST

Every year, the BlueCat Screenplay Competition holds a Movie Title Contest for all of our early submissions. All entries submitted to BlueCat by AUGUST 1st will be automatically eligible. Our TOP 3 favorite titles will each receive a cash prize of $250!

All scripts submitted by the Movie Title Deadline of August 1st will receive their written analysis by October 1st.

$60 for features and $40 for short screenplays.

Since 1998, the BlueCat Screenplay Competition has provided a community for the unknown screenwriter to develop their work, giving undiscovered talent a path to professional success.

We accept both feature length and short screenplays, and in keeping with our longstanding tradition, every screenplay will receive one written analysis, with our best screenplays receiving over $40,000 in cash prizes.
