Oddly enough, I have occasionally been misgendered. I guess because "Amadan" is close to "Amanda."

Not so much since I became a Cylon, though.

That RH was outed was wrong (whatever the circs, it's not all that clear yet) imo. Because now she's getting abused -- and abuse is abuse. I can't just say it;s OK because of who the person on the receiving end is. Two wrongs don't make a right.

If someone is breaking the law..

You alert the authorities and let them handle it

(Ofc I say this in my "sane" mode. In my ..er...wibbly mode.....)

ETA; Seriously, Norman didn't make the list?

ETA I've been misgendered quite a lot (The books in my sig are from the POV of a guy, the pen name etc. It has led to some, *cough* interesting issues. If the person thinks I'm a guy Rojan is "clearly" an authorial inset. If they know I'm not, a secondary character is "clearly" the insert. Which I think says more about inferring from the text than it does about me)

Tbh, as a female writing from the POV of a guy, people thinking I am male is both a compliment and (considering the male whose POV I wrote from) disturbing

What does that have to do with anything? He wasn't breaking the law. It's not illegal to be a sexist, disgusting piece of shit.

Taking that last post to the other thread, as suggested.

It's illegal where I am to do at least half the things you said he did

So, uh, very relevant?

What did he do that's illegal where you're from? The underage girls in the subreddits wore clothes. Posting pictures of beaten women is also not illegal. I'm not sure if it's legal to take pictures of unsuspecting women without their consent, but /r/creepshots was a popular subreddit for a long time and no users were prosecuted for it.

Jerking off to a picture of a thirteen year old girl in a bikini isn't actually illegal, just fucked up.

One of the reasons that reddit left him as moderator for so long was because he was very good at finding illegal content and deleting it. He'd argue that point in conversation--that nothing he did or said was actually illegal. And he was right. If he was ever arrested, I must've missed it.

Creepshots -- taking photos, especially of an intimate nature, without the subject's permission -- illegal

If the reporter had concerns about the rest (and he should have)he should have reported them to the authorities (and was frankly remiss if he did not do so)

Basically, he was a vigilante. And we know how well that works.

I too had problems with The Wind Up Girl frex (RH seems to have deleted that review along with many others....) but I don't think it merits (IIRC - I may be mixing up authors here) a shot of acid in the face.

I started reading Wind-Up Girl and was so disgusted by one scene that I stopped reading it and discarded my copy. I would never touch anything by that author again. That's the biggest protest I can make!

Not true here, so the courts have ruled. At least not if the creepshots occur in "public space." A good reason not to wear skirts.

I'm not clear on the details here, but in general I don't believe the definition of child pornography requires nudity.

This used to bother me, but then I realized there's adult pornography I've ... heard about ... in which the subjects are street-legal (though they might get odd looks).

Massachusetts had a similar ruling. The legislature tried to close the loophole; I don't know if the current law has been challenged in court, but for now creepshots actually are illegal there.
