I love Sondheim, really do, but here it just sounded like every song was the same. So, that was underwhelming. In fact my gf thinks every single Sondheim musical sounds the same and she keeps refusing to watch Sweeney Todd with me.
Anyway... the cast was amazing. Except for the baker, he was a miscast in my opinion, his voice/acting is weak.
Streep and Blunt were marvellous. Loved the two princes. Loved Baranski.
But overall I found it too long, and sometimes even cringe-worthy.

I finally saw this last night and I loved it! Sure, they butchered the second act a bit, but at least they didn't totally sanitize it. I know everyone is upset about No More, but I didn't think it was truly needed, given the scene with his father. What I really missed the reprise of Agony and I Wish, think that would have helped the transition. And clarifying the timeline, seems like they tried to have it both ways by compressing it but then keeping several plot points that didn't sit right.
