Longtime reader, infrequent poster as I've been busy to the point of comic absurdity. Last year I published my first book - Divorcing a Real Witch - and got all distracted from it by two book contracts via a different publisher, plus a cross-country move from Minneapolis to San Francisco.

I found earlier this week that it is on the shortlist for the Diagram Oddest Book Title of the Year award. Final voting is open to the public.

You can read my thoughts on my work's nomination here.

My reaction, ultimately is ...it's an honor to be nominated?

I'm afraid I've already voted in that because a book by a dear friend of mine has been shortlisted! I didn't think his title was odd either. It must have been a year of staid titles.

Well, I just voted for you. I don't know if it's an odd book title, but it's definitely an attention getter. I'd pick it up off the shelf and read the blurb just because of the title.

Hmmm...do I say Congrats? Best of Luck? or Well, glad you're getting some extra publicity?

:)

Blessings,

I read about this a few days ago, and recognised your name from here. :) I thought it was brilliant news, and was really pleased for you. Congratulations! :)

I just voted for you ;) I hope you win, although I don't know if it's an odd book title or not. I guess some extra publicity is never a bad thing

Thank you AltiV! Yeah, the comments I've seen for it suggest the selection committee may need to use the Internet more. So much weirder out there!

Ha! Hey, I'd take it. One for the trophy case, right? Also your book's cover is really nice!

Thanks for the well wishes all! As it turns out, I am the first runner up, my title taking 25.1% of the vote, while the winner, Strangers have the Best Candy, won with 26.1% of the vote.

Today is still a win for me. My title is still getting a mention in all of the press, I just had an anthology submission accepted today, and I got a PM on Twitter from my celebrity crush. I'm happy. :)
