Wages in US Retail rising

It seems like a load of PR crap.

To the public:

"Go us! Look how well we're going to treat our workers! We don't need a national minimum wage hike blah blah blah..."

Behind the scenes:

"We can't lose so much as one dime of profit and we must make more!"

So they'll cut employee hours/drop positions/ expect the remaining "high wage earners" to do the work of 2-3 people.

And then raise prices as much as they can get away with because,

"Dear consumers we must do this to be able to treat our valued associates fairly."
