I knew Bill O'Reilly growing up---we're about the same age, and he lived down the block from me. Didn't know him well, because he went to Catholic school and I went to the local public school. My male friends knew him better, though, because Bill had a posse and they liked beating up "hippie types." Another friend, who played football with him, said he was a bully there too, big on shutting younger players into lockers. It's heartwarming that he's made a career of doing what he loves to do.

Jiminy Christmas! Occassionally I've watched O'Reilly and been mildly amused by his schtick, but mostly I just dismissed him as yet another loud mouthed, self-agrandizing talking head. But the reality seems to be that in addition to stretching the truth (it happens) he has made a career for himself by being a repeat offender bully. Ugh. I really can't stand bullies. I'm a bit surprised at my own viceral reaction. Bullies. I hate 'em.
