If anyone's interested in seeing the Bard of Salford - the greatest and possibly only poet* to come out of punk - JCC is touring in May.

Warning: his accent can be a little, er, impenetrable.

EDIT: OK, there was Patti Smith as well, who is also pretty good.

If we are talking punk poets, we can't forget John K. Samson (former member of Propagandhi.)

Somewhere among the vinyl, I have a 10" EP entitled Live at the Electric Circus. It contains tracks from Joy Division, The Fall, The Buzzcocks, Steel Pulse, and John Cooper Clarke. His contributions are "(I've Never Seen a Nipple in the) Daily Express" and "I Married an Alien from Outer Space".

I'd go see him in a heartbeat - he's bound to entertain.

In a fit of cybernetic rage
She pissed off to another age
She lives in nineteen ninety-nine
With her new boyfriend, a blob of slime

Funny how 1999 still somehow seems futuristic to me.

JCC will also be supporting Squeeze on their UK tour in the autumn, so I finally have a reason to go to Ipswich.
