Brittany Fleer - makes me think of romance
Sarah St John - I would peg either YA or fantasy/romance
Aleece Brenner - sounds very mystery writer to me
A. Leigh Rose - definitely romance

My real name is Ashlee Hawksworth and my author page holds my real name, I have never really thought of a pen name but I do think my real name doesn't sound very author-y. If I did go for something I might try Ash Forster, Forster being my fiance's last name or maybe Ashlee Selleck, being my grandmother's maiden name. I don't want to change my first name even just for a pen name.

Honestly, if I saw Ashlee Hawksworth, my first impression would be that it's a made-up name. I do like the Ash Forster option.

Some of the favorite names throughout this thread that have stuck with me:
Lee Raven - Certainly mysteries and thrillers
Christian Tucholski - Some kind of high-minded literary fiction
Marian Crane - I might just be name-checking Frasier, but I see scientific writings

I write under my full name: Kenneth B Humphrey. Mostly because that's how I sign my name, but also Ken B Humphrey looks weird to me.

Ashlee Hawksworth screams romantic-horror to me since it's a common first name with a unusual last name.
Kenneth B Humphrey screams serious and factual so I'd assume non-fiction and that you think to much on stuff.

When I get published I'd either go with Lyghe Reed-Write or Sydney Write.
I definitely will use my mom's maiden name Write in whatever I choose.

I would probably read anything with your name on it, just because having the name Write on a book is just incredibly punny, but it also makes me immediately think of young adult, maybe even new adult. I also get female MC too, but not the wispy 'I trip over everything and can't talk to boys' type. For some reason, the name just makes me think of writing with good gender equality.

Ryan Love is the name I plan on having on all of my books, but it's not my real name.

Just some names that have stuck with me throughout:

Marian Crane: oddly enough makes me think Agatha Christie, so I assume mystery novels.
Brian Start: makes me think male protag-focused YA.
Tyler Sylvaris: makes me think of Fight Club's Tyler Durden, so I'd probably assume you wrote similar stories to Chuck P.
Lee Raven: classic mystery/suspense/thriller author name
Sarah St. John: sounds like literary fiction
Ryan Love: I'd assume romance

My name is Regency but I'm currently building my author platform under Idris Grey. Another name I'm considering if I genre-hop is Regina Monsoon.
