Up at the house.
Mrs. Bluntforcetrauma kindly read this book to me last night once I was tucked in. Highly recommended (and the book was good, too).

Speaking of dogs, though...

I got a puppy this weekend. :D

I haven't slept all week :e2bummed:

Got up at 5 (after a sleepless night) because he was up and going. Made coffee so that I could match his enthusiasm for the morning. And now he's fallen asleep again.

It's like having a newborn again, I swear.

I'm glad I didn't have to say it.

I suppose I should be clear in saying that I like dogs. It's just if I was going to get one, I'd do what I did with the cat: adopt an older dog.

Puppies and kittens are far too destructive and rambunctious and an overall pain, plus the cute wears off. And lots of people pass up adopting the older animals just because they aren't cute little kittens or puppies.

Not that adult animals don't come with their own issues, mind you, they just generally seem to be less energetic about it.

:D

So, in other words, you've taken complete leave of your senses.

No, I was just outvoted. :wag:

Well, we didn't get it because it was cute. It's actually not that cute. It's kinda plain, in my opinion.

*That's* why we got a puppy. Have gone that route too, and seems to be a crap shoot either way.

And did I mention, I was outvoted?

Ah, this is what comes of a democracy.

You got a puppy that isn't cute??

Why?

:Wha:

And yeah, I know adult dogs can come with their own issues. It's just that they are less likely to be adopted as quickly, so I feel bad for them.

Also, I can't be outvoted.

<unrolls 3" fire hose, turns on valve, starts spraying down Newby with barbecue sauce>

Who're we newbyquing anyway? Not that it matters. I just didn't get a name...

Oh, and my friend really liked her dinner. She said it was "awesome". We may go for a walk Saturday if the weather's nice (it's predicted to rain though). She said I could call her and ask anyway.

Payday tomorrow (well, tomorrow morning around 2:30am anyway). I'm broke from paying bills last week and still have about $400 more to pay this week (finish up rent for April, electric, car registration & insurance) and I need to get a haircut Saturday (and maybe have them put a little color in to reduce the salt n' pepper look in the beard and the gray in the hair - that should take 10-20 years off my appearance alone).
