I enjoyed the movie, even though I'm really not a Jack Nicholson fan.
So I decided to read the book, written by Darryl Ponicsan and published a few years before the movie was released. Pretty impressive stuff -- better than the movie, in my opinion. The ending is MUCH different from the ending in the movie. Without giving way any spoilers, the novel clearly illustrates the meaning of the title. (I must confess that I could never figure out why the movie was titled "The Last Detail"; after reading the book, I now understand exactly what The Last Detail is).
It's a quick & entertaining read, with three unforgettable characters and a wealth of unforgettable scenes.
Anyone else dig this book?
