Mayrn -

You did an excellent job on the welcome to lurkers! I've been an AW member a while now but never post and just started checking out the erotica section today.

I plan to lurk some more in this genre so I don't make an ass out of myself, but I'm happy to be here. You all seem like a welcoming bunch!

I lurked for about a hour before signing up and jumping into this pool of lovely, deviant minds. The 'Turn-off/ Gag me sex words' thread pulled me in- lol.

I'm glad people are feeling welcome here. We've had issues many times over newer arrivals feeling others were exclusionary, and I aim to not allow that on my watch.

Hey, what's that on my watch? Oh. Diet Ranch, as usual.

Maryn, not thin yet

Well I'm not really a lurker, I was on the site for all of about 10 minutes before I decided I like what I see and signed up. :)

So I've never (publicly) written anything other than musings on facebook in the form of long, ranting notes that probably no one ever reads. I was a graphic designer and illustrator for several years though, so I'm familiar with having public review of creative works. My wife has been a fan of erotica for some time, and after her confessing to me how much she loved reading erotica and the effects it had on her, I turned my long-winded self to some erotica fiction specifically for her, between the two of us. I've written her a few short stories, and she eats them up. She keeps going on about how good they are, so I decided I'd get some feedback from completely neutral parties who don't know me, won't worry about offending me if the criticism is negative, and (most importantly) have experience working with literary works and writing on a professional level.

I'm not going to post needlessly on random threads to put my post count at 50 to have the ability to create a new thread, so I'll just go this way: If you would like to read a few shorts (and I do mean short, only a few pages) and give some honest feedback; right, wrong or indifferent; PM me with an email address I can shoot the text files to. Or if you prefer, I can simply copy the text and respond via PM assuming these boards allow PM's to run high on character count).

Just to go ahead and let you folks know who I am, name's James, I'm former graphic designer/illustrator turned law enforcement turned active duty military, currently deployed. My internet connection here in country is pretty bad, and heavily censored, so I haven't been able to check out a lot of the links I see in threads. My exposure to erotica has been extremely limited up to now, only having read a few chapters out of a few of my wife's books. From what I gather reading through the boards, my writing is pretty damn graphic. I've noticed that some of you guys tend to be fairly hard-line about the differences between erotica and porn writing, but fortunately for all of us I didn't write any of this stuff so far for anyone but my wife. :)

So yeah, that's about it. If you'd like to have a read or two, give some honest feedback, get ahold of me. I look forward to hearing from some of you guys, and getting the opportunity to find out what other people think of my writing. :D

-edit-
I should say that, despite the way it sounded above, I'm not just here for a one-off, lol! I really enjoy writing these shorts, and wouldn't mind making a solid time-sink out of it... That is, unless you guys have nothing but horrible feedback about how terrible I am and that I should never desecrate another page with my drivel!

Greetings, and welcome to AW. :welcome:

So I've never (publicly) written anything other than musings on facebook in the form of long, ranting notes that probably no one ever reads. I was a graphic designer and illustrator for several years though, so I'm familiar with having public review of creative works. My wife has been a fan of erotica for some time, and after her confessing to me how much she loved reading erotica and the effects it had on her, I turned my long-winded self to some erotica fiction specifically for her, between the two of us. That was exactly how I got my start as a writer of erotica also. Eventually I found I wanted to break out of the box of writing characters who were thinly disguised stand-ins for the two of us, and plotlines that involved only our personal fantasies and desires.

lol Steve, so far the little I've written, it's not even 'thinly disguised stand-ins', it's just the two of us. Atypical settings, but it's just us. :)

I am a newbie to the forum who's been lurking in this section for the past few days. I've done some reading here and need to do some more but I really wanted to say hello to everyone to shake off some of the nerves.

So hello everyone. I'm Rose. I've been writing for YEARS but recently tried my hand at Erotica and I'm very excited about it. ;) Eventually I'd like to maybe post something I've written to get some feedback but for now I'm here to learn and possibly make some friends who also enjoy this sexy genre.

Okay, I'm done. Bye Rose

Hiya, Rose. Nice to see you here. Is Chicago melting hot again today? (And are you and your writing the cause of it?)

Maryn, writing non-sexy stuff today out of consideration for the weather

Maryn - it is steaming hot in Chicago again today (and I'm over it) and I may have made it worse with the 12 pages I wrote during lunch. Oops, sorry Chicago but dang were they hot hot hot!

I love the little wavey smiley guys, they're cute.

I'm thinking, more than a month since the last post, that people all over the place must be writing some smoldering erotica, because this heat wave is huge and fierce!

Maryn, in western NY, where it's in the 90s again

I blame it on my menopausal hot flashes. Mine and all the other ageing baby-boomers! :D

Im a newbie to writing forums really so im just dipping into everything. Im a massive sucker (no pun intended) for erotica because it can fit ino most stories (MOST) and it can turn a a gentle page turner into a lean mean page promptly flicked turner! Anyway hi and i look forward to having a read and a share.

Hi.

I lurk. I'm trying to learn more about promoting work on-line.

My hobby is writing erotic short fiction about monsters and stuff. My pen name is Ally Mauser. If my boss found out about this hobby of mine, well... I live in the Bible Belt.

Here's a link to one of my stories. They're in Smashwords and Nook, too.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005KD9MO2/?tag=absowrit-20 There's lots more.

If anyone knows good links to learn about marketing erotica on-line, I'd love to see them. I'm a newbie and I don't even know where to begin!

I will admit that I lurked around for a bit before I joined.

I've been trying to organize my computer files and discovered a folder that had erotic stories, poems and 90 pages of a novella that I started writing years ago that I had forgotten about.

Now, I'm trying to figure out what I can do with the work I've already done as well as continue to write new things from what I have learned in my time away from writing prose.

It's been a fun journey back and an interesting one as well. I've been focusing on entering as many anthology submissions as I have time to write just to see if what I love doing can gain any ground.

I've joined a few forums before but this is the first one I want to participate in.

Oh, I ended a sentence with a preposition. I guess I have more writing to work on.

Having read this I recognised the danger of lurking... I might never have got past it! So... day one... already dipping my toe in the waters.

Hello out there!
