Over the years I've devoured every page ever written by Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Neil Gaiman (and several other classics), but I've now hit a wall...

Can anyone recommend any contemporary authors of satirical, humorous or otherwise tongue-in-cheek fantasy/scifi? I'd love to find some new funny guys!

Depending on your specific taste...

Christopher Moore, Jasper Fforde, Walter Moers, A. Lee Martinez, Susanna Clarke

Thanks so much for the quick replies! After a brief search on Amazon, looks as though Christopher Moore may be just what I'm looking for. Some other interesting selections as well.

Thanks again!

Spider Robinson - he's one of my brother's favourite writers. I'm assuming you're familiar with Robert Anton Wilson...

Daniel O'Malley. When I read him, I thought, "Omg, he's like Pratchett's little brother!" :D I am counting the days to his next book.

So many great recommendations! I've made a list of about 20 titles so far. Wonderful for reading, studying, analyzing... for getting any writing done, not so much.

Thanks again!

If you're willing to read stuff that's for a younger audience, I've found Brandon Sanderson's Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians MG series a lot of fun. I think it can work for older audiences, too, because there's a lot of good humor in there for writers and avid readers.

Plus, it features a main character whose magical talent is breaking things. Other characters have similarly ridiculous abilities.

Warning: it completely obliterates the fourth wall, referring to the reader directly.

Ben Aaronovitch (who also wrote for Doctor Who), has a fairly witty (but not over-the-top) urban fantasy series, Rivers of London.

And then there's this guy...the one who wrote the book just to my left.
