It's below freezing here. Too cold.

Somewhere it's gotta be just right. We should move there.

It finally cooled off into the 70s, but that's the night temp. Lol. :D

SOoo sorry it's so cold. Send some my way would ya, so the tomatoes don't roast an early death...

Unfortunately, my guestroom is currently under redecoration.

Ted, I just read your blog.

Can somebody please explain to me, why you 'Mericans do stuff like that to yourselves. Fark! It must be like eating molten lava!

You people are not well.

I've had habanero jelly before... you don't scoop it up like salsa, that's for sure. You just dip your chip into it and let the heat build in your mouth...

Mixing it in with other dishes is probably the best way to eat it, right Ted?

It's not for everyone, but I like the sensations you experience from hot food.

It is, at his moment a beautiful sunny 68F warming later to about 80. This can't last long, but for the next couple days I'd say that's near to perfect. :D

Cool!
*plans a visit but gives time for redecoration to be done

He can keep the ghost peppers. I'm not even real fond of jalapenos.

Now, prickly pear cactus jelly - yum! It sounds bad, and I understand there is a trick to getting the prickly's off, but the fruit of it actually makes a nice jelly.

Take a Ritz / Townhouse / Cracker of choice
Spread cream cheese liberally on cracker
Spread habanero jelly liberally on cracker
Enjoy the sweet, spicy heaven

The cream cheese tames the heat a little, allowing the flavor of the pepper to come through without burning your taste buds off. So. Freaking. Good.

A margarita will tame the heat too..

This is a similar concept to dipping your extra-hot chicken wing in blue cheese dressing.

That's disgusting

Mildly salacious, disgracefully flirtatious, possibly mendacious, perhaps.

But disgusting is a little harsh, don't you think?

ETA:

One might even say ungracious.

Sweetie, if the shipping costs to Jo-berg weren't so bad, I'd send you some. The 4-oz jars sold well and people were very happy.

Hot, spicy stuff releases endorphins for some folks. For me, I don't do that hot stuff much anymore since my own personal ecosystem is such a basket case already. I did taste it and it is very hot, but also very sweet so the heat fades quickly.

At work, people were going through it like it was Nutella.

Angie is correct that the most popular way is to mix it with cream cheese. However, some use it as a glaze on pork or chicken. The stuff I made goes a long way so only a little is needed.

Incorrigible on your part. Though I do like disgracefully flirtatious.

You're just miffed I haven't returned to the salon. I get it.

I've been having it fumigated. But I'm not sure we'll ever get rid of that smell.

Yes! I love prickly pear jelly, candies, and syrup. This stuff is wonderful. But as you said, you about need a blowtorch and leather gloves to get all the prickly's off.
-And they have hair stickers underneath the big visible pokey ones, so it feels like you've got fiberglass in your fingers even after 'burning' them off.

It's better to buy it bottled or pre-candied ;)
