Something to cheer you up: A few years ago Brynn, one of my sixth grade girls, came back to school after being sick for three days. One of her friends came up to me and whispered that Brynn looked blue. I walked by her, and sure enough, her normally pale skin had a blue pallor. I took her to the office (thinking she might be horribly ill--low on oxygen--whatever) called her mom who is a nurse. She took her to the hospital. They immediately admitted her. She was put through a battery of tests. Her father finally got to the hospital and went to her room, took one look at her, went to the sink and wet a white washcloth, rubbed her arm with it, and it turned blue. Seems she was in bed for three days with a new blue comforter while she was sick and didn't shower before she came back to school.

Just because I teach middle school and interesting things happen in middle school.
Today, one of my dinky 8th grade girls was about to get hit in the face with a ball during four square at recess today (private school, so they get recess), so she put her arm up to block it. Her arm was in a cast. The ball hit her cast, her cast smashed into her mouth which was full of braces. Needless to say, the girl was a mess. I hadn't seen that much blood in a long time. She's gonna have two fat lips for several days, I'm afraid. I love teaching.
