forgets that puddles are of no concern,
thinking of only the challenge,
baby steps, and then we learn;
forgets that, puddles are of no concern.
discovery awaits at every turn,
defeat with frustration, we unhinge;
forgets that - puddles are of no concern,
thinking of only the challenge.

Thinking of only the challenge
not caring to where it might lead.
The focus? A quest for revenge
thinking of only the challenge.
Not reaching out to make amends,
give warnings that one will not heed
thinking of only the challenge.
Not caring to where it might lead.

Not caring to where it might lead,
two toddler friends explore a box
of waiting-room toys, each a seed -
not caring to where it might lead -
for makeshift adventures. Young breed,
quiet braves, with toy cars and blocks!
Not caring to where it might lead,
two toddler friends explore a box.

Two toddler friends explore a box,
while brand new toys are pushed aside.
In cardboard worn like caps and frocks
two toddler friends explore. A box,
a simple shell where dreams unlock
and whisk them off to worlds wide-eyed.
Two toddler friends explore a box—
while brand new toys are pushed aside.

While brand new toys are pushed aside,
leapt, out the door to explore the world
to feel grass beneath feet, run with tide,
while brand new toys are pushed aside,
eager beavers, squirrels, deer slide,
under the fence into otherworld,
while brand new toys are pushed aside,
leapt, out the door to explore the world.

Leapt out the door to explore the world
leading me by the loop on my wrist -
old Sunshine, with her slack tongue unfurled,
leapt out the door to explore the world.
I clicked the leash on, and her head twirled.
She (Flash! Nearly beat the doorknob's twist!)
leapt out the door. To explore the world,
leading me - by the loop on my wrist.

Where opinions have a distinct aroma.
Leading me, by the loop on my wrist,
the wind reveals what openness yields
beyond the fence and frame... and gifts
(leading me) by the loop. On my wrist,
the city's shackle holds me to twist
and turn concrete into grassy fields
leading me by the loop on my wrist.
The wind reveals what openness yields.

In the Castle, of course.
The wind reveals what? Openness yields
a fallow field. Of burned, dead ground
the press reports. Still government shields
the wind reveals. What openness yields
is of no account when politics sow the fields.
Still people ignore the truth that browned.
The wind reveals what openness yields--
a fallow field of burned dead. Ground.

Where the dirty water has all been cleaned--Boston
A fallow field of burned, dead ground—
a birthright taken for taxes.
A farmer yields, without a sound,
a fallow field of burned, dead ground.
The battle waged, the win resounds
for a government which axes
a fallow field of burned, dead ground—
a birthright? Taken-for-Taxes.

A birthright taken. For taxes
an army marches. On a leader's whim,
property is destroyed with axes.
A birthright! Taken for taxes!
The population grieves, then relaxes.
Master tactician, he knew how to skim
a birthright. Taken for taxes,
an army marches on a leader's whim.

An army marches on a leader's whim
forward, backward, forever retreating
tired, arms, legs, encircling limbs,
an army marches on a leader's whim
through daybreak's stormy, cloudy, weather's grim
solitary solitude entreating
an army marches on a leader's whim
forward, backward, forever retreating.

Forward, backward, forever retreating,
‘tis the plight of the common workingman.
Head down, his boss shouts the soul depleting
“FORWARD!” “BACKWARD!” Forever retreating
in the depths of his soul making, keeping
a solemn vow that he’ll soon take a stand.
Forward, backward, forever retreating—
‘tis the plight of the common workingman.

'tis the plight of the common workingman,
to surrender his purpose to The Machine;
wandering, wondering, what will become of him?
'tis the plight of the common workingman.
"progress leads to a better life"....a sham;
to be - the shadow of a dream.
'tis the plight of the common workingman,
to surrender his purpose to The Machine.

To surrender his purpose to the machine,
another relinquishes all that is good.
Joining the political chorus he seemed
to surrender his purpose to. The machine
consumed all that he was, leaving his mind clean
of clutter, which can never be understood.
To surrender his purpose to the machine,
another relinquishes all. That is good.

Another relinquishes all. That is good
one teacher of pupils lost on this earth
with charlatans and heathens in neighborhood.
Another relinquishes all. That is good
a child filled with dreams and wonderment would
never forget the city of his birth.
Another relinquishes all. That is good
one teacher of pupils lost on this earth.

one teacher of pupils lost on this earth,
offers hope of another day, dreaming;
brave aspirations give us all new birth -
one teacher of pupils lost on this earth

pulling the will from ambitions' dearth,
each new idea, an infant screaming;
one teacher of pupils lost on this earth,
offers hope of another day, dreaming

Offers, hopes for another day, dreaming,
temptations; all distractions of the mind
As if my muse were simply streaming
offers, hopes for another day. Dreaming
prevents only my words from teeming!
Sometimes obsessions present unkind
offers of hope for another day dreaming.
Temptations - all distractions of the mind

temptations, all distractons; of the mind
be true, set a good example;
though in err, the others you'll find,
temptations, all distractions of the mind.

reality, truth in kind,
when sought, is ample;
temptations, all distractions of the mind;
be true, set a good example

be true, set a good example
live life to learn, laugh, love, again
others will become more ample,
be true, set a good example
do not be the one to trample
with claws, paws, or even a brain,
be true, set a good example
live lift to learn, laugh, love, again.

Live life to learn, laugh, love, again.
Just words when feelings are walls.
Use your paint, or voice, or pen.
Live life to learn, laugh, love, again.

Force a smile, relax, pretend.
What's real doesn't matter at all.
Live life to learn, laugh, love, again.
Just words when feelings are walls.

Just words, when feelings are walls
-forgotten. Soon as they're spoken
(recalcitrant child), Vanity always calls
Just Words- when feelings are walls.

Yet Pride hears her name when she's called
The fall that bruised her? only a token..
Just words- when feelings are walls
forgotten... 'soon as they're spoken

Ideas to share with your friends
in lieu secrets closely held.
It's much easer to defend
ideas. To share with your friends
your inner thoughts that might offend—
those things best kept in deepest wells.
Ideas to share with your friends
in lieu secrets closely held.

in lieu, secrets closely held,
exchanged for the chance of freedom;
one cries out, The Lie is quelled,
in lieu, secrets, closely held.
the gamble's made, liberty for jail -
only heroes, this way come;
in lieu, secrets closely held,
exchanged, for the chance of freedom.

Exchanged for the chance of freedom,
Everything I've gained as a slave.
A plaster and brick cage to breathe in,
Exchanged for the chance of freedom.

Spun-gelatin packs made to feed them,
A jacket and pants from a lathe.
Exchanged for the chance of freedom.
Everything I've gained as a slave.
