It is snowing here, as in Right Here. The sky is blue three blocks away. Methinks this front is rather defined.

This is because the weather in Alaska hates you, isn't it?

Oh, god. Hide the tootsie pops...

Regarding US accents, there's a huge difference between North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, etc. Heck, you go to West Tennessee (where my Outlaws live) and they can tell the difference between the three parts of the state. No lie. East, Middle, and West Tennessee apparently all have significantly different dialects.

Something to consider: England alone has something like three or four hundred dialects. That fact that Tennessee only has three is due to the fact that English has only been in America a few hundred years.

Good evening Cantina!

I am tired. Had trouble sleeping yet again last night. I'm so sick of this crap. :(

I had something to add to the accent/dialect discussion, but I forgot what it was. It probably wasn't important anyway.

On the subject of accents (again), I must add a new personal revelation to this: Despite having friends from Manchester, I've never really listened to that accent before. And if the guys in Queer as Folk who are supposed to be from Manchester actually are doing even half-way accurate accents...

me like. :D

So busy and no time for writing or AW obsessions :(

There's far too much going on in my head, it needs to come out!

I'm going to be taking a break from AW for awhile. I might occasionally pop into the Cantina now and then. Good luck with your writing and other pursuits.

We'll miss you, but enjoy your hiatus, whatever the reason might be.

Cantina Peeps, I need an identification and a double-check, please, primarily because it's bugging me.

From another thread:

The flying saucer on the lower right, under the Battlestar Galactica, is the only one I don't recognize at all. Green sphere looks like a Borg sphere, but I'm shaky on that.

Clockwise, from 12:

  • Deep Space 9
  • Jetsons
  • Star Trek (Enterprise)
  • Farscape (Moya)
  • Red Dwarf (Starbug*)
  • Battlestar Galactica
  • ???
  • Babylon 5 (Star Fury)
  • Star Trek (Borg Sphere)???
  • Lost in Space (Jupiter 2)
  • Futurama (Planet Express)
  • Space Battleship Yamato
  • Star Wars (Millennium Falcon)
  • Dr Who (Tardis)
  • Firefly (Serenity)

So, fellow sci-fi buffs, is the green sphere what I think it is, and what's the other flying saucer?

*Thanks, Neuro

Hey Fen

It's only 24 C atm, which is making me seriously consider waking up a lot earlier and goin to sleep a lot earlier. At least until this week is over.

Trade ya for awhile :)

Still snowing here.

And as I am still on vacation for the next week, I am not upset by that.

:D

Keep it!

I am a Queen! :hooray:

Image search seems to concur that the green sphere is what you think it is.

I think the other one might be from The Invaders?

Everything else is spot on.

Though I kinda wish they had included the alien ship from Close Encounters...

A crazy house by any other name, would still be as full of nuts :D

Welcome newbie. Have our welcome pack. It includes a breeding pair of smibbles, a magic glass, the Avoid the Raptors, Beware the Kracken survival guide, the Cantina Map, and some Quality Reading Material (tm) called 'As the Cantina Turns'. The last two can actually be found in certain sigs.

We... aren't?

Or just you?

Because I frequently say we're all mad here. In a very Carrollian manner.

My gourd is tiny. Like, three inches tall. I'd never fit in that thing! Plus, it's orange. Not a good color for me.
