My co-author had a thing for my name for a long time--by sheer coincidence. She had a Catherine (nicknamed Cat), a Kathleen, a Kate, a Katie, etc., etc. I finally had to put my foot down after book four and insist on no more Kathys.

As for your thesis, why not embrace your quirk instead of fighting against it? "A universe of Daves" could easily be a theme instead of a negative. You might get extra points for being clever.
