How the heck does anyone ever come up with a title?!

My suggestion is: don't think about it. Just write. As you do, ideas are bound to pop into your head. Jot them down. Once you have a list, compare, contrast and revise. Best of luck!

So, any tips? Is their any particular methodology or whatever people employ when confronting this issue?

Personally, I find my titles by

  • Thinking of words/phrases/quotes from, or related to, my book

  • Checking out songs titles at random until I find something that I like, that fits, or that just inspires me in the right direction

  • If everything else fails, I go to the default setting of naming it by the first idea that sparkled the whole thing (that it's usually a placeholder for me, but sometimes it turns out to be perfect LOL, so it stays)

But yeah, I agree that finding titles can be a pain in the ass sometimes. But
for me, it's mostly just fun, except for that one WIP I couldn't agree on any title at all...:ROFL:

Your title will sum up the book. Just condense it into an appealing title.

It involved a school locker, a dent, and a raging headache...

Seriously, the title to my current work started life as a chapter heading. Then a critique partner said, "That's the title."

And y'know, she was right.
