Aliens told me they'd build me a hotrod. But they never came back.

Almost time for work. Joy.

Some of us are still at work. And have five hours to go still.

I work until 10 tonight. It's a Tuesday and those days are usually quiet. This means plenty of time for me to read my Kindle. I shouldn't complain, really, because how many jobs let you read a book at work?

Not mine, certainly.

I mean, there's reading galore. But not really by choice or for fun.


I'm jealous.

One of my best jobs ever was in college when I worked the parking booth. Traffic was slow and all I had to do was take money, give a ticket for their window. Too bad I was on a hiatus from writing, or I would have gotten LOADS done. But I could read a lot. And I did my homework while I was at work basically. So I had lots of free time after work.

I love it when that happens! I can mess around, not really do anything, just keep a chair from flying away.

I am supposed to do the dishes.

I hate tonight.

Give 'em to the dog to take care of. Dishes will always wait.

Well...

I kinda already left a bunch of them from earlier. Because I decided to go to the beach.

I think everyone is getting tired of me leaving them to wait.

This is why you make kids do dishes. The only reason my dad kept me around was so I could be his bartender and lawn mower. Oh, and snow shoveler.

Actually, the kids washed the car today (first time). Even vacuumed it and everything! And the oldest mowed the lawn. Today I actually finally had a glimpse at what it might be like when they can do more around here.

It was a little bit awesome.

This is good news. Make sure to teach them how to rotate tires, too. My mom had to show me and it was awkward.

Nope. I was 10 years old and my mom had gotten hurt at work. My dad was MIA so it was up to me. She told me what to do and I just did it behind the garage. My mom actually taught me more about cars than my dad.
