Great idea!

Here's what useful information I could offer:

I have a bachelors in History with a concentration on American History
I have a minor in psychology as well.
I have a Masters in National Security Studies and Foreign Policy

Specific areas of that I have extensively studied include:
The formation of the German state (from about 1815-onwards)
Rome and the Classical World
The Crusades
The colonial age (everything from piracy to colonial governance)
French and Indian War
American Revolution
Napoleonic Wars
American Civil Wars
Victorian Era
The First World War
The Second World War

Other areas I can provide assistance include:

Military (from small unit tactics to strategy, evolution of military affairs, etc

Firearms and anything related to them (military and civilian)

I'm from the American South and know the area pretty well (Georgia, Alabama, Carolinas, Virginia, Tennessee especially). I've lived in DC for a decade.
I've spent a lot of time in the Caribbean (Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Dominican Republic).

Just PM me and ask; if I don't know right off the bat, I can research the question for you.

how I can help

My PhD is in linguistics, specifically sociocultural linguistics, and I can provide a lot of help on regional and social varieties of English, including information about how best to represent them in written language.

I speak German and Swiss German fluently.

I lived in the Austrian alps near the Swiss border for almost three years, and can tell you a lot about small dairy farming there.

My husband is a Brit, and I have extended British family including a brother-in-law who is wickedly quick at word play and rhyming slang; he takes inquiries, through me.

I spent twelve years as a university professor, tenured, at a Big 10 university.

Grew up in Chicago in a working class neighborhood; my father was an Italian cook. He grew up in Italy. I went to Catholic school 1-12.

I'm very much a dog person.

I can't offer much beyond spelling (I'm a whiz), but I can say that I've worked at 4 different Subways (the restaurant) so if anyone needs to know anything about them, for some reason, you can PM me. :)

I am a cart attendant at a major retail chain.

I was a night shift supervisor for Rite Aid and started working for Brooks Pharmacy just as the buy out was taking place. The drama that ensued was amazing.

I have worked for two different companies that were in the process of mergers. I have also worked for three different companies that were the victim of some kind of credit breech. I can tell you what it's like at the floor level to be dealing with something you have no control over.

I have worked as a detailer for a subcontractor hired by US Airways.

I was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome when I was 14, but to be honest, I can only give you information from my own perspective.

I live in Salem, Massachusetts and I was born in Bennington, Vermont. I also lived in Burlington, Vermont. I frequently travel to Boston for a number of reasons.

In high school I played Mister Dussel in the Diary of Anne Frank. I am also an aspiring comedian and can tell you about any of those things, though I am not an expert on any of them.

I've read the entire Animorphs series. I know how to buy two weeks worth of groceries on twenty dollars and I am a serious hardcore bargain hunter.

I have been on paranormal investigations and I have made money as a tarot reader.

So again, I may not be the expert in any of these things, but I can certainly answer questions.

I'm about to get an MA in Historic Preservation, with a specialty in museums. My niche is military history, firearms, and the story of various wars. Got countless books on the subject. Let me know if you have any gun questions.

I spent two years as a wildland firefighter for California State. One year on a handcrew the other on an engine. I was a Paramedic for a short time, also. I'm a huge fan of stand-up comedy. I have a bachelors in history but I spent most of my time studying philosophy.

I'm a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force, so I can help with any sort of customs questions you have for authenticity purposes. I've was raised in South Texas, lived in California, South Korea, and England, so I have a bit of knowledge about those areas as well. I'm also an air traffic controller, so if there's any aviation questions I can lend my expertise so you can avoid any silly scenes like in the newest Spider-Man movie.

I got my bachelor's in Psychology, and extensively studied mental illnesses, with a focus on mood disorders (bipolar, depression)

I have also spent quite a bit of time researching child abuse and the psychological after effects, and an immense amount of time researching women who kill their children.

I am also an avid gamer, and speak the "language" fluently. I've played many different types of games, so I can help with a variety of topics.

Special Needs and BDSM... Everybody has a day job!

Yes, I am a special needs worker who is into BDSM. Don't be too surprised. I know police officers, social workers, doctors, lawyers, caterers, and even pastors who are BDSMers. We are everywhere, but don't worry... We only bite when we have permission. So, my expertise...

Special Needs
I worked with Special Needs for several years. I have personal experience with all of the following:

-Intellectual Disability (Mental Retardation) Mild-Profound
- Down Syndrome
-Fragile X Syndrome
- Emotional Disturbance
- Blindness
-Deafness
- Blind/Deaf
- Autistic Spectrum Disorders
- Asperger's
- Non Verbal
- Spina Bifida
- Cerebral Palsey
... And many other special needs situations. I also know special education classroom protocol, the changing of adult diapers, restraint of disturbed children who are trying to attack someone, etc.

I can read Braille.

BDSM, S&M, D&S, B&D, Kink, Professional BDSM, aka being a "Dominatrix"
I am also an active BDSMer who has been part of the real life community on and off for almost ten years. I do professional Domme work (the more accepted word for Dominatrix), and I also attend many events for fun.

If you want to know about REAL BDSM, I can tell you about it, but if you're looking for a dark and thrilling tale of clandestine meetings of perverted people dressed in leather and lace having orgies in fancy dungeons, I suggest you pick up an urban fantasy novel. The BDSM community is very friendly, funny, and caring. There are strict rules on safety, people are very accepting, and though it is sexual, it does not really involve much sex. And most people's dungeons double as their spare bedrooms. Also, being a pro Domme is NOT like being an escort. I have never removed any of my clothes for a man, so I can't tell you anything about that. It's a whole 'nother world.

I have real world practice in all of the following:

-Fireplay
-Firecupping
-Rope bondage
-Suspension
-Spanking
-Caning
-Chastity devices (male)
-Cuckholding
-Making single tail whips
-Swinging single tail whips
-Sounding
-Piercing
-Branding
-Tazering
-Foot worship
-Strap On
-Puppy and pony play
-24/7

...honestly, I have done almost every kink imaginable, short of a couple that gross me out (think poop). So if you have questions, feel free to ask. In the BDSM community there are instructional demos ALL the time, so you really do learn these things from someone who is a pro at them.

Note: I know very little about the Leather community, other than the fact that it is too militaristic for my taste. I have many Leather friends, but BDSM is not the same as Leather. They have many similarities and ways that they cross, but the Leather community considers itself separate from the general BDSM community. You have to earn your standing there, while BDSM is less rigid. There are a lot more women in BDSM than in Leather. Probably 75% of the Leather community are gay and bisexual men.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions about the above topics.

My own reality
Wow, I'm so glad there is a search engine for this thread.

I have a BA in Religious Studies with a minor in Classical Studies. My MA is in Bible from a Seminary (Christian, but I also studied at the Jewish seminary).

So, I can help with questions about religion in general both in theory and practice. My focus was on the ancient world and I read and write in three forms of ancient Greek (including Biblical). I have some ancient Hebrew.

I deal with reality paradigms, especially as they relate to the movement of people and the clash of cultures/religions, think East meets West.

And along the way I studied far too much philosophy and theology.

I can't say I have many things I'm a 'specialist' at, but here are a couple:

- I'm currently in my third year of my Bachelor of Psychology. So basically I know about some mental illnesses (and biological basis behind them) as well as some statistics.
- Depression/Anxiety/OCD/Panic Attacks/High Blood Pressure (Personally)
- Australia
- Working in a delicatessen in a major supermarket.
- Being a loved one of someone who has been in a serious accident. Said someone was put in an induced coma, as well as had two punctured lungs, thirteen broken ribs, broken collarbone, broken shoulder blade/tear in shoulder, heart stopped beating twice and was brought back through CPR both times. So basically I can tell you some things about those sorts of injuries as well as the feelings of a loved one who didn't know whether their family member would live or die and what our experiences with doctors/nurses/ICU was like in Australia.

And that's it. :)

Expert advice from a known liar...

Hi I am new to the forum, I have traveled extensively in my career in Oil & Gas construction, I can offer advice, possible guidance and outrageous exaggerations on a number of subjects related to my work.

Offshore construction.
The boredom involved.
Helicopter ditching.
Rough crew boat rides.
Stormy seas.
Freezing cold/sapping heat.
Deep sea diving.
Salvage.
Getting shot at.
Brewing beer and wine from just about anything.
The perils of 'moonshine'

Working in:
South America, Middle East, West Africa, SE Asia, Oceania.
Customs, immigration, travel in country, work attitudes of local staff, horrendous safety attitudes.
