Today I got a new camera to play with, so I'll be practicing a lot with it taking pictures of my flowers, my favorite subjects. I'm excited to have this new camera, my old one is ten years old and very outdated. Someday I'll get Photoshop or something similar so I can play around with my photos.

I'm a photographer who started in 35 mm during high school. I spent a year on the yearbook and took mostly sports photos using a medium format camera. When i was a senior my parents helped me buy my first camera, a Canon AE-1 program. I still had it up to about a year ago when I finally sold it for not very much money.

I bought a Sony Maptiva which stored the images on a floppy disk. It worked ok but the quality was not very good at all. Then we got a Canon Powershot and right before I had my daughter we got a Canon Cybershot which took pretty good pictures.

A couple years a go I finally got a Nikon d-60 I love it.

I prefer digital over film because it is less expensive and I can see my pictures right away so I can take more shots if I need to

I use to develop my own film black and white and I bought bulk film which saved some money.

I mostly do nature, wildlife, landscapes and my daughter

anyone interested in astrophotography?

Astronomy is another hobby I have. But right now I do not have a telescope. I sold my scope when I was pregnant since I figured I wouldn't have much time for it. now 5 years later I am mad at myself for selling it.

I will eventually get a new telescope and I am very interested in taking pictures of the stars and planets.

I live in the Northwest so getting clear nights can sometimes be a challenge in itself. Also it's a drag having to drive a considerable distance in order to get dark skies. Last summer I drove up to Mount Hood and saw the meteor shower. It was quite awesome to watch!

digital is easier, but I love shooting with film. Some of my best work is with film. I've attached a couple here for you to see.

Great shots! I like all the photos especially the last one. I must agree with you. It's not about the digital or manual, good photos come up with the skill of capturing good scene and the "eye" for it. You can have good shot with just using a manual camera if you really know hoe to take shots beautifully!

It took quite a few shots (about sixty) before the butterfly lined up just right to have its picture taken:

I'm wanting to get into photography. I've only been working with my Nikon Coolpix for the past year or so. I've got my fingers crossed I'll have enough to buy my Canon Rebel T3 in a couple months so I can really get started!

These pictures weren't taken by me (since I'm the subject matter, lol). They were done by my boyfriend. I did the editing. Just thought I'd share since I really like them.

How weird, I've just come off a discussion about photography and then check new posts and this is the first thread listed!

I have a Fuji Finepix HS10. Mostly I do architectural shots, landscapes etc, but I've been playing lately with some macro-setting pictures.

Couple of wee things:

I have to go tomorrow and do some night shots of Prague for my boss, which I suppose is technically my first paying gig as a photographer, if she decides to use them. Will have to fiddle with the settings a bit as some of the places are very low light, but hopefully I'll get something usable.

WOW PeterD, those are FANTASTIC. The dandelion is my favorite, what an incredible shot! And you're a fellow Pentax person! :D I use a K-r. Wish I could afford to upgrade, but mine suits me fine for general hobbyist photography and portraits of my horses, so.

I love photographing the moon and TRYING to photograph the stars, but I can't afford camera attachments and I don't think I'm clever enough to build a barn-door tracker. :p So mostly I settle for the moon, hahaha.
