~3100 words give or take. 2300ish last night from midnight to one. Another 800 or so at lunch today. It probably makes no sense so far as I'm just "writing" but hey.

I like what I've come up with so far....but I'm concerned if I can stretch it into 50k words. Well, I was always good at padding in school, lets see if it works here. :D

I'm reading through the first draft of my newest novel. Half way through it. It's not terrible but it needs a lot of work (imagine that). I'm just happy that I can stand to read my own stuff.

Small victory, but a looong way to go.

*hands out victory cookies to all*

Congrats to Joy! :snoopy:
Big hugs to Jennifer, bettielee, and Aggy. :Hug2:

Thanks, back at ya!

Today was a tough beginning - hate the blank white screen. But, I did get a little over 2.5k words down for the WIP2. The beginning is slow sloggin' right now.

I'm hoping to gain some speed after I get out of the first couple of chapters. Ugh, I hate the beginning.

No work done on the WIP1 edits. Here's hoping that tomorrow's time management will improve.

I'm having a bit of a NaNo Day 1 hangover, so off to bed with me.

I haven't done NaNo in yeaaaaars. Thought I'd give it a try by making some headway on a novel I'd been brainstorming and done basic character sketches and vague plot notes and world building on. My plan was to get all OCD about it by planning, plotting, designing and I decided for once? I'm going to stop delaying myself and seat-of-the-pants it and was pleasantly surprised by the dialogue and plot revelations that came out. It was nice. Only got a short start and a few hundred words for a couple scenes but I'm hopeful! :D

Goals for November:

Finish Spice God Novel. 50k to write.
Finish last revision of Smoking Gun.

December:

Start writing DragonSpeak (50k)
Edit Spice God.
Submit Smoking Gun.

January

Finish Second half of DragonSpeak :)
Submit Spice God and Smoking Gun

DragonSpeak is going to be pretty big, at least 100k, so I'm going to give myself time to write and edit. But in the meantime, I'll have at least one out for submission, and Spice God, with luck, can be edited and sent out, too. Or at least ready to show an agent if one happens to be interested in Smoking Gun.

:) Busy winter. I might take a month off during the summer to "refill the cup".

Like a few others in this thread, I'm doing the year thing and not NaNo. So I'll update every weekend on where I'm at. But I'll start my first update today because the 1st was only yesterday.

1000 words in and I learned that my MC is going to be kind of quirky with a "death-wish" streak in him. Gonna be a fun ride when he starts taking on those ghosts and demons.

Anybody good at making badges? Having a Novel challenge badge to put in our siggies would be groovy. If i have a chance i'll play around a bit tonight, but i'm no artist.

What you want it to look like?

Right now I'd skin my granny rather than write this horrible pile of shite.

Hmmm  :D

Maybe a cross between the W1S1 short fiction badges and the Flash Fiction Challenge badge? Maybe? Something shiny?

And thanks!

OK. These are pretty basic, but they look OK at small sizes.

And one of them is shiny!

Oooh! I particularly like the brown-framed one :)

Do you think we could replace W1S1 with AW? And do we need the 2011, particularly as this is going to be a rolling challenge? Maybe we could move the W1S1 to where the 2011 is? Possibly.

Thanks much, Lillie!

Or perhaps something a little steampunky.

You like that one?
I liked that one too.

Cool. But if someone else comes up with something better, then I won't be offended or anything if you go with theirs. :)

Good stuff!

I'm only 3,500 words into this novel and already it has a much different feel than i envisioned. Oh well. Let's see where it leads :D
