Hi everybody,

I said a query to a magazine regarding my poetry that's in prose and the editor replies,

"As our guidelines state, we publish prose poems and fiction. We do not publish lineated work. If your work fits these guidelines, we'll be happy to read it."

What does lineated work mean?

regards,

jaus

Heck, that one stumped me. I had to google it. I'd agree with Helix - lineated seems to mean "separated into lines" as in:

I leant upon a coppice gate
When Frost was spectre-grey
And winter's dregs made desolate
The weakening eye of day.

If I've got this right, this would be okay if it was written as:

I leant upon a coppice gate when Frost was spectre-grey and winter's dregs made desolate the weakening eye of day.

Lineated. You learn something new every day.

I am
no expert
on poet-
ry
but I think
it means
more than just
verse form
it's the poet
arranging
the lines of
the poem
(enjambment)
to control
the flow of
the work
(breaking each
stanza in to
separate lines)
I'm guess-
ing
it was more
common
years ago to
seem hip

Something like that anyway. Someone else will probably have a better definition.
