Hey guys,

My 'OMG MY BOOK JUST CAME OUT!' happiness pretty much died tonight when I found out that my collection (An Amorous Thing, now republished as Amorous Things) was once again being sold by the same man who initially republished it. I won't recant the whole ordeal here, but I will link to my blog post, which is here: http://kodyboye.com/?p=1257

If anyone has any information on this man or what I could do in regards of getting a lawyer, etc., it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

- Kody

Kody, I've read your blog and it seems to me that the only thing you have to dispute here is the publication of a single short story which you co-wrote with the person in question. Your collection of short stories, as published by your previous publisher, is shown as a Kindle version but it's not available to buy; and there are no new copies of the paperback edition of it, just one ridiculously priced used one (which neither you nor your previous publisher have any control of).

I know it's upsetting when you feel your work has been used unfairly like this. I can really empathise with you. Roughly, if your co-writer is using your work against the contract you had with one another then you need to get a lawyer to send him a cease and desist letter; if you didn't have a contract then you might find things a little more difficult to work out who has the rights to do what with your work. However, I don't feel that you'll get the legal advice that you need on a writers' forum. You need to try to sort this out with your ex publisher, and if you can't do that then you need to decide whether controlling the publication of your rights to a single co-written short story is worth the cost of involving a lawyer.

I though that LGP was gone, that was certainly the indication a while ago, there were some authors who were pretty pissed that their work never came out, Jacobsmeyer was apparently on a 'sabbatical' but last I heard it was all over and his writers had all been released from their contracts, but that was about 18 months ago, if I recall correctly.

I know that they have a 'not recommeded' on P&ED http://www.invirtuo.cc/prededitors/pebl.htm

Odd, the ebook shows up as for sale when I look. I don't know how Amazon's ebook stuff works, but couldn't you contact Amazon directly to let them know your work is being used without your permission?

I got word from Amazon yesterday evening that they're removing the book. Makes me VERY happy.
