Teri!!!! Great to see you here, chica. Rep meh. :snoopy:

Caleb, seconding Amarie. Take the day off to moan and sample the mead, then back to proactivity for you. I hope you find a good employment fit where you're not constantly square-peg-round-holing.

Sorry, kimmi.

i am proud of me. =) ha!

also to encourage and help lift mood
a bit, been given the okay to book for

by organizer!
i was hoping to have a book sale by

supportive of me going either which way.

i am blessed!

WOOHOOOO, Teri!

:snoopy: :e2woo:

I had a lovely call with my marketing rep today. Getting very excited about this book launch thing! :D (ETA: I maintain, if two people I've never met buy it and like it, I'm going to be very happy. Anything else is just gravy. :) )

Also, snappy, he says he's mailing your ARC tomorrow! :)

Woohooo Teri!!!

Hugs to Kimmi and Caleb.

Yay for Xiao's words and Lwalker's call.

I haven't had Lasik but I have very poor vision and it's been especially crappy lately. Need new contacts but haven't gotten around to doc.

BUT there was an article in the New York Times awhile back that really stuck with me. It was written by a doctor whose Lasik left her in constant discomfort. Here's the article.

My eye doctor has advised me multiple times that while I may get someone willing to perform lasik surgery on me, my dry eyes make me such a poor candidate that he'd advise against it.

The Kid and I have had this interesting conversation about low vision. My nearsightedness is fairly bad. Put me in an unfamiliar environment without my glasses and I'll struggle. (Proven over and over in restaurants where I can't see the Restrooms sign, which is plenty big enough.) But in my own environment, without glasses, I can 'see' better than she can, probably close to 20-20. I put 'see' in quotes because her theory is that my brain is filling in the details because it's seen this stuff before. To me, yes, I can read nearly all the DVD titles from across the room, and they're pretty small. I shouldn't be able to do that.

Weird.

Maryn, nine kinds of weird

Feeling anxious. I have a big project set to launch on Thursday, which may or may not be my official book release day.
Guess what arrived today?

Actually, the "package" I was waiting for came in today. Here's a complete pic.

PurgyBooks.jpg

I'm still waiting on a few more:
- Amarie's G@rgoyle on the S3in3
- CharmingBillie's Wide Op3n
- Elisabetta's The Fl0wer R3ader
- the last 2 of Kasey's Sh@des of Fvry books

It'll probably be Christmas-time before I dive in, though. I'm working on the outline to Book 3 right now, plus I've got a ton of Honey-Do's to do around the house and yard before we host Thanksgiving. (Da house and yard - suffering from much neglect.)

Wow, Rick gets the MVP award for meeting Purgies, and now for financially supporting us. That photo of all the books is a thing of beauty....

Rick - awesome!

Question - do we have a list or sticky somewhere of all purgy books? I have bought and read many of them, but I'm sure I've missed a few esp during those times when I'm not as active here as usual. Want to make sure to support the purgs.:D

*snerk* I'm at an 8.25 and a 9 in nearsightedness.

Yeah, you'd be legally blind, at least from what my mother was told in the '90s. She'd reached -8 in one eye before having radial keratotomy surgery for correction. Took her down to MUCH lighter glasses that didn't hurt her nose.

Both of my eyes are in the -7s, so I'm close, and even though I get child lenses, my glasses still feel heavy at times. I need to go back to the optometrist because the left side is digging into my nose.

Jenn - I used LRB's Purgatoryisms sticky as my shopping list.

ETA: If any Purgy had a book that came out in 2012 and it wasn't in my pic or listed below it, mea culpa - rep me!

Sorry, That's Classified...
*waves*

I got nuthin...

Avoiding my failing NaNo word count and working on editor revisions for WARRIORS.... it is SUPPOSED to come out 12-12-12...but....we'll see... it would be nice to get a tiny boost in $ for the Holiday... Trying to stay positive and NOT let the season drag me into the dark abyss as it normaly does...

Repped as I went, but good evening everyone!!

Snappy, I know someone who just had LASIK and loves it so far. I never really considered it myself, but I would probably tend to obsess about the side effects so I don't know if I ever really would have done it. Good luck with it if you decided to do it!

Tonight on our walk, Blue kicked dirt right in my eye, which was quite an accomplishment since I wear glasses.

Not much else to report. Working on revisions for book 3. Still deliriously happy that I have a furnace, especially as it was down to 18 or so last night. Still thinking about next writing projects.

snappy, i wanted it, but i'm not a candidate, as doc said i was the 2% of population who has this rare disease which is wearing my cornea, something called basement something or other. however, i'm a bit like cindy, as i don't necessarily want to see the world all crisp and detailed. =D

kimmi who really thinks she's young because she can't see her wrinkles

Ha, LRB, I know that feeling! As I said, I need new contacts, but when I wear my glasses, my vision is crisper and I can see all my flaws (and of course I rarely wear glasses when I'm wearing makeup, so it's really obvious).

I got my first review -- from a CP's nine-year-old. It's awesome to hear from real kids who like it -- and also because my friend wasn't 100 percent crazy about it herself. She thought some thematic elements were too sophisticated (G-rated themes, but sophisticated ideas).
